It is with much sadness and regret to inform the Brotherhood of the unfortunate passing of a well-loved and very respected man. 
Blount County Fire Protection District in Tennessee lost Fire Captain Jim Patty on the night of October 29th, 2015. 
Capt Patty had recently been ill, and sadly took a turn for the worst. The community he served had a train derailment that was carrying some bad chemicals.

It is related to the "Mischief night" practiced in other parts of the United States and the world, but is chiefly associated with the serious vandalism and arson seen in Detroit, Michigan from since the 1970's.

In August 2015, Katy, TX firefighter and veteran Jason Anderson killed himself while on duty in the fire station where he worked.
Though Jason Anderson never talked about it, Susan Anderson said she feels her son suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after his time in the military and as a firefighter.
