The man, Richard Rodriguez, slashed the tires of five vehicles parked outside the Sanitation garage on Jersey Street in Tompkinsville, alleges a criminal complaint.
Rodriguez, 32, who lives on Clark Lane in Tompkinsville, got into an argument with the woman at about 5:45 a.m., said a law enforcement source with knowledge of the case.
He chased her and she ran into the Sanitation garage, the source said.
Rodriguez followed her inside, and was told to leave, said the source.
The defendant initially refused, but ultimately departed, the complaint said. Shortly thereafter, he was seen slashing a Toyota Camry parked in front of the garage, according to the source and the complaint.
Further investigation revealed that four other vehicles parked outside the garage had their tires slashed, the complaint said.
Rodriguez denied any wrongdoing when questioned by cops.
"I told them I was gonna pop their tires, but I didn't know they were slashed already," court papers quote him as telling police.
The defendant was charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief and a lesser count of trespassing, according to information from Acting District Attorney Daniel Master's office.
Rodriguez has another case pending in Criminal Court.
He was arrested March 31 on a misdemeanor drug charge, show online state court records.
The defendant is free on his own recognizance in that case.
