When 9-1-1 becomes a primary source of healthcare, how is EMS to respond? Here's a case study out of New Mexico of a system that's finding success addressing this very problem.
The city’s Public Inebriation Intervention Program reduces the number of frequent 9-1-1 users as well as ED readmissions.

    • Steve Reeves-Brown This is the issue now where we are still treating every 999 /911 call as a medical emergency and responding as such. We need to be able to now start looking closer into what is acutely unwell / injured requiring a traditional ambulance and then what can be bounced back to a primary or urgent care service e.g. A specialist paramedic / family doctor / community nurse. Otherwise our systems are just going to implode!
