A North Carolina fire chief has been arrested and charged with embezzling nearly $20,000 from his fire department.
Jesse Raymon Hoshall, III was arrested last week by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. He was fire chief of the Scotch-Irish Fire Department, located in an unincorporated area in Rowan County called Woodleaf.
Chief Hoshall was charged with embezzlement of property received by virtue of office or employment. The theft reportedly involved the use of the fire department’s credit card between 2010 and 2012 for personal purposes. The Scotch-Irish FD’s board learned of the thefts on September 20, 2015.
Chief Hoshall is free on $10,000 bond. More on the story.
