Vyšní Lhoty, North Moravia, Aug 7 (ČTK) — The first 16 refugees arrived in the new detention facility in Vyšní Lhoty Aug. 7 and up to 70 illegal migrants are to be transported there by the end of the week.
Miloslav Koudelný, director of the Refugee Facilities Administration, said on Thursday illegal migrants would be sent to Vyšní Lhoty from the facilities in Zastavka, south Moravia, and Bela pod Bezdezem, central Bohemia.
Only men, mainly from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, will stay in the Vyšní Lhoty camp with the total capacity of 220 beds. It is hard to say when exactly its capacity will be filled, Koudelny added.
Foreigners waiting for an administrative expulsion according to the Dublin Regulation or for the transfer to another country within re-admission will be detained in Vyšní Lhoty, he said.
Local inhabitants who came to see the camp before its opening expressed fears for their safety over the refugees.
However, Koudelný said the camp should be sufficiently protected to prevent the clients' escape.
All security adjustments should be completed by the end of August. But the facility is prepared for operation now, Koudelný added.
Radim Daněk, deputy to the Moravia-Silesia regional police chief, said the police had reinforced patrols in the village to guarantee the inhabitants' safety around-the-clock.
The complex in Vyšní Lhoty, situated on 75,000 square meters, served as a refugee facility in the past, until 2009. It had the capacity of 580 beds. Foreigners moved around the village freely then.
However, the conditions in the facility are much stricter now than in the past and it is hard to leave it arbitrarily, Koudelný assured the locals.
