Hundreds Graduate from Law Enforcement Explorer Academy
Hundreds of young adults filled the auditorium today at Police Headquarters and graduated from the Law Enforcement Explorer Academy. This community service, career-oriented program helps to educate young men and women, ages 14-20, about Law Enforcement. During the ceremony, Police Commissioner Bratton told the graduates: “You, our explorers, are the future of this city and you can help to write the next chapter of policing in New York City.”

A Hero’s Farewell
NYPD Detective First Grade Robert Mistretta walked out of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office yesterday to grand round of applause from family, friends, and colleagues. Joined by Police Commissioner Bratton and Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, Detective Mistretta walked from his office in One Hogan Place where he was assigned to the Manhattan DA’s office as an investigator since 1996. His 42-year career began when he joined the NYPD in 1973, serving on patrol, as a narcotics detective, and in Brooklyn’s 70 Precinct Detective Squad.
Join us in thanking Detective Mistretta for his more than four decades of service and wishing him well in his retirement.

COPS IN QUEENS USE COMMUNICATION SKILLS TO DISARM MAN WITH GUN
