Fancy helping a firefighter complete 40 challenges before he’s 40? Now’s your chance! Firefighter Darren Long from Wandsworth blue watch is raising money for the Stroke Association before his 40th birthday in November.

Firefighters will be demonstrating their skills at a road safety awareness event at the world famous Ace Café tomorrow.
The crews will be showing how they respond to road traffic collisions and along with paramedics from London Ambulance Service, will simulate a number of vehicle rescues which will also see them extricate casualties safely.
Ace Café is situated on North Circular Road in Stonebridge and was exceptionally popular in the 1950s with bikers; it is still a meeting point for anyone interested in motoring. The event will take place between 10am and 3pm.

Already making plans for next weekend? Why not head down to Sutton Fire Station’s open day on Sunday afternoon.
There will be lots to see and do including meeting the firefighters, having a look at their equipment and fire and rescue demonstrations. Lots of fire safety tips will be on offer and there will be games for all the family to enjoy.
The event is from 12pm to 4pm and is taking place at 43 St Dunstans Hill, Sutton, SM1 2JX
Our rescue teams recently triumphed at the UK Rescue Challenge. The event saw teams from around the country put through their paces in a number of demanding scenarios aimed at testing key skills such as incident command, trauma care and technical rescue.
The Brigade's line rescue team maintained their position as the best in the country, completing a clean sweep of all the awards up for grabs and our trauma team claimed first place in the trauma challenge earning themselves the right to represent the UK at next year’s World Rescue Challenge in Brazil.
To top it all, the extrication team put in a great performance to finish sixth out of a field of 23 teams, a position that in absence of a challenge last year, means they will be representing the UK at this year's World Rescue Challenge in Portugal in October. Well done all!
