Sévaré a hotel in Mali, where guests of the West, was attacked Friday morning by armed men. In the night, the Malian special forces ended the hostage situation, allowing the release of four hostages. The army said the death toll was 12 dead, including five members of the UN mission in Mali.
Malian forces, backed by French soldiers, ended on the night of Friday to Saturday in a hostage situation orchestrated by an armed commando that held several hostages, including foreigners, in a hotel Sévaré in the center Mali. "It seems that (the hostage) is over, and ended well," said Colonel Diaran Koné, spokesman of the Ministry of Defence. "We have released four hostages. Unfortunately, we also found three bodies at the scene. "
According to the latest toll released by the Malian army, 12 people have been killed since the beginning of the taking of hostages, including five Malian soldiers. The twelve were killed "five Fama (members of the Malian Armed Forces), five terrorists and two whites."
The UN said that among the victims included five of his contract for the UN mission in Mali (Minusma): "A Malian, who was the driver of the subcontractor company of the Minusma, a Nepalese, a South -Africain and two Ukrainians, "said the organization in a statement. She also reported four foreign survivors of the attack, two South Africans, a Russian and a Ukrainian. Earlier in the night from Friday to Saturday, the Malian Forces said they had already released several hostages, including "five foreigners ". We still do not know the identity of the attackers or their exact number.
Third attack in less than a week
The attackers broke Friday around 7:00 (5:00 French time) at the Hotel Byblos Sévaré frequented by Westerners, including by members of the Minusma, the mission of peacekeeping the UN. They have entrenched themselves inside the establishment with a dozen hostages. According to Malian military sources interviewed by AFP Friday at least five foreigners - three South Africans, one French and one Ukrainian - there were registered before the assault. The Ukrainian and Russian authorities prior to confirmed the presence of nationals among the hostages. Malian forces had cordoned off the area and tried since then to "dislodge" the armed group of the hotel. Five Malian soldiers and an employee of the Minusma perished during the attack and during exchanges of gunfire that followed, as well as three members of the commando, including one wearing an explosives belt.
Sévaré is located near the town of Mopti, on the edge of the vast north of Mali, which were removed many Westerners. This region is, since spring 2012, under the control of extremist Islamist groups linked to Al Qaeda. The jihadists have been largely driven out of these regions, however, still whole areas beyond the control of the Malian authorities and foreign forces.
The attack in Sévaré is the third in less than a week in the country after two assaults with 13 dead among the military: two died in an ambush to Nampala city of Segou region (center) August 1 Eleven were killed on a base of the National Guard in Gourma-Rharous in the Timbuktu region (northwest) on 3 August. Forgive me if I laugh, UAIS is not the opposite of time? I see very little French soldiers under the command of Mali.
Collapsed laughing. On 08/08/2015 at 15:04 - we hear that thanks to France, the country had found peace again stories to make us sleep standing up; nothing is settled either in this country or elsewhere.
- A TV report explained that France had given the order not to worry Islamists who left Mali during the intervention of the army. Yet they escaped in convoys by the only road, it was easy to destroy them all, but we had to keep the pressure on African neighbors. A strategy that certainly will keep the French army in the region for the next 50 years ..

- jdeclef"This country supposedly liberated by France is still at war, unstable and always infested with Islamic terrorists, despite the effective actions of the French army still ongoing in the Sahel desert region of Kidal"The attack is the third in Sévaré in less than a week in the country! The "terrorists" were reorganized and changed their modes of action. It is not, no offense to our great warlord, some detachments of what remains of the French army and its limited resources that will solve the problem! When the war we want to do as our beloved President, avoid dismantle his army!
This also applies to the Malian army ..
