Two journalists arrested, they tried to blackmail the king of Morocco

Eric Laurent and Catherine Graciet, writers and journalists, were arrested after attempting to extort three million euros to the king of Morocco. They threatened to publish a book containing damaging information and wanted to get paid to forgo the release of their book.

They tried to blackmail the king of Morocco. Two French journalists, Eric Laurent and Catherine Graciet, were arrested Thursday in Paris after requiring the Kingdom of Morocco three million euros by threatening to publish compromising information for King Mohammed VI shows RTL.
The beginning of the case date back to more than a month, according to the radio. In late July, Eric Laurent contacted the office of the king of Morocco and requested an appointment for he said, preparing a book on the Moroccan kingdom.A representative from the office of Mohammed VI then went to the interview, scheduled for 11 August.
It was during this exchange that the journalist and writer then demanded payment of three million euros in exchange for the non-publication of his book, co-authored with Catherine Graciet. Failing this the raven threatened to reveal compromising information for Cherifian power.
Except Moroccan authorities immediately decided to complain. The second meeting on Thursday to be the payment of the amount claimed, and was held under police surveillance.
