A Massive Beer-Drinking Festival Is Coming To Greenpoint In September

Day drinking isn't limited to seasonable summer hours, when it's all you can do to replenish lost fluids from merely stepping onto a subway platform. To that end, mark your calendars for September 26th, when Brooklyn Pour returns for your liver once more with its lively, all-you-can-drink beer tasting shenanigans. For its fifth birthday, the event has left behind the stately but constricted Skylight One Hanson for Greenpoint's Brooklyn EXPO Center, a decidedly less historic venue but one that hopefully offers a little more glass-raising elbow room.
As with year's past, they'll have a bajillion beers for sampling, many from repeat attendees (Victory, Rockaway, Downeast Cider, Harpoon, et. al.) and some from the early list of newbies, which includes Queens Brewery, Captain Lawrence, Anchor Brewing Company and few others. The official lineup won't be released for a bit, but unless you're a die-hard beer geek looking for that elusive unicorn brew, the lineup won't be the deal maker/breaker for attending.
So what should you expect while attending? Well, you'll basically walk from table-to-table to sample as many of the beers as you wish. In the beginning, you'll attempt a few lines of discourse with the brewing reps, furrowing your brow as you take a sip while hearing about their process. Fast forward to an hour later and you'll probably be about less talking, more drinking; don't worry, it happens to us all.
The event is staggered in several waves, beginning with VIP admission ($85) at 2 p.m., Early Bird ($65) at 2:30 p.m. and General ($55) at 3 p.m.; all ticket holders have access to the venue until 6 p.m. Tickets are available here.
