Questions are being raised about whether the crews were properly trained and equipped to deal with the emergency at a warehouse that stored a volatile mix of chemicals, including compounds that become combustible on contact with water.
At least 21 firefighters confirmed dead, 64 missing.

Rank-and-file firefighters say that [reserve] fleet is so unreliable that many would rather drive a damaged truck than settle for a 25-year-old vehicle from the reserve lot with hundreds of thousands of miles on the odometer.
Sources say vehicles can’t be trusted.

You can go to many auto auctions across the country and find police cars for sale. I guess they are good enough for cabs or personal transportation, but not for police officers to drive or in some locals, take home.
  • Wendy CK This is a sad story. I really feel for the firefighters. There putting their lives on the line just driving these vehicles to a fire or emergency that could kill or hurt them.I thought Detroit Fire was in really bad shape. From this article, Philadelphia Fire is either equal or worse shape than Detroit. No wonder I never see Philadelphia Fire Trucks in the online forums of Facebook or Instagram.

Or learn more about fire safety and equipment. Now they can't trust kids who come around, in fear of someone getting hurt or touching things they are told not to.
