This article in The New York Times firmly puts the blame for frequent fliers on the homeless. How true is this in your community? Are the homeless your "frequent fliers"?
One of the city’s engines was cited as the busiest in the country last year, but less than 2 percent of its runs involved fires.

Some Chicago providers want the option of wearing bullet-resistant vests over their uniforms, but in a statement, the CFD said such vests are not authorized as outerwear. "The vest in question is a tactical style vest that makes the wearer look like a police officer in tactical gear," the statement said, confirming that the order came from Deputy Commissioner McNicholas. "It should be clear that nothing in our guidelines or in the order from the deputy forbids the use of a so-called bulletproof vest. What is strictly controlled is that which is worn OVER the uniform."

Because it has no relevance to scene security or prehospital care, EMS World chose not to post today's video of a Virginia TV news reporter and cameraman being shot and killed on the air. Sites that did faced controversy among commenters. What are your thoughts about showing this clip on an EMS page? Is there value in it?http://www.emsworld.com/news/12107767

In the largest pediatric cardiac arrest study to date, a team of researchers led by The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Lawson Health Research Institute found that survival was the highest, especially among teens, with 10 to 35 minutes on the scene in the care and under the treatment of paramedics. The study also found that improved survival was associated with intravenous access and fluid administration, whereas advanced airway attempts (endotracheal intubation) and resuscitation drugs were not. We are big fans of Medic Madness with Sean Eddy and here's his latestUniform Stories post: "One of the common reactions I get when I’m asked about my line of work is: 'I couldn’t do that. I don’t like blood and guts.' Well, neither do I. People often misinterpret our tolerance for such things as us somehow 'liking' it. There’s damned few tasks that are less desirable than cleaning blood out of the back of an ambulance."
