I'm on my way to Cheyenne Wyoming where I've been invited to attend their 45th annual Trauma Conference. I'll be there with some of my artwork (hopefully...it's been sitting in customs for three days). If you're in the area stop by, the conference will be at the Little America Hotel and Resort in Cheyenne.
On Sunday I'm flying to San Diego and will be there for a couple days. I would love to meet some Paramedics, Firefighters or Police officers while I'm there and maybe get s...

This is Joe Heck and his two Sons Ethan and Michael. Joe has been a firefighter for 15 years and is a Captain in the Purcell Oklahoma Fire Department. Joe was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in April, it's an aggressive form of brain cancer that may be linked to his many years of service as a firefighter. I did this painting from a family photo that his Sister sent me. To help support Joe and his family leave a comment on this post for him or click this link:

Here's another pet portrait I did not too long ago. Sadly this dog (Winston) recently went to doggy heaven after having a wonderful last day with his family. He was a regular at our firehall and I love that our Chief allows dogs in our hall. Have fun chasing butterflies in doggy heaven Winston.

A client of mine commissioned me to create a portrait of her father, her uncle, who had recently passed and the car he left for him. You can see the image in an earlier post. This is a video of him opening it and seeing it for the first time. I'm so happy I was able to do this for this family.

Some of things we have to do as Paramedics is pretty crazy. Sometimes the treatment is more disturbing than the actual cause. Drilling an IO into a leg to get access, cutting a throat to place an airway or sticking the chest deep with needles to decompress air are just a few of things I’m sure medics of the future will think are barbaric. Doing CPR with your hands in a pool of blood because no matter how much you suction, blood just keeps coming out of the ET tube and...

I was amazed to hear how many first responders were taking their lives because of PTSD but once I heard the stats for military personnel it blew my mind. In the United States 8000 veterans a year take their own lives, that's 22 every day! almost one an hour! That is CRAZY! This is more than double the normal rate. Why doesn't everyone know what's happening to these veterans? How many lives is it going to take?
The United States Senate did unanimously passed the Clay Hunt Suic...

What Do You See??
This is a hard image to look at but what do you see? EMS and Police see this often, in some cities it's the majority of their call volume. It's easy to see a junkie, a waste of skin and a burden on society. Being called to something like this over and over can be very frustrating.
Does a heroin addict want to be a heroin addict? Does an alcoholic want to be an alcoholic? When the Devil comes he won't be a red demon with horns caring a pitchfork. He's going t...
