MANHATTAN – NYPD released sketch of a man who placed his victim into a choke hold and then stole his money in Central Park Thursday evening.
Police said a 53-year-old man was walking through the Rambles , in the vicinity of Transverse Road Number Two and West Drive, when the 35-year-old suspect approached him and stated “I am hungry, do you have any money?”
The victim replied with no and walked away, but the man came up behind him and put him in a choke hold until he passed out, according to police.
He woke up 20 to 30 minutes later and found his wallet, backpack containing glasses, keys, gift cards, jewelry and an undetermined amount of cash were missing, cops said.
The thief is described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, according to authorities.
