Great to see that we have an army of social media followers that have shared their wrong charger near misses in a bid to make others safer.
Mandy sent us the image of an iFake charger she bought from a market stall which caught alight and the second picture was sent by Jimmy, whose kitchen was left burnt after using the wrong charger with his electric cigarette.
Although both plugs exploded, they thankfully did not cause blazes - but you might not be so fortunate.

  • Kevin Cook It's not just fake, Had a new 2 week old charger plug that came with the new phone that was getting way too hot, sent photos and e mail and explained that I was retired fire service and this would be taken further should it catch light they would be held responsible if nothing was done, new one came in post 3 days later.

Almost 60 firefighters were called to tackle a fire at an historic pub in Marylebone on Saturday.
Eight fire engines were at the scene and crews worked hard to bring the fire under control quickly.
About half of the second floor and some of the third floor was damaged in the blaze. Part of the roof also collapsed.

Last weekend our Fire Cadets and volunteers were down at the Tunnel 2 Towers run.
Twenty cadets and volunteers took part in the 5km race, which saw them run from Southwark Park Bermondsey through the empty Rotherhithe Tunnel, along the docks to the Billingsgate Market finish line.
Other cadets joined standard bearers to form a guard of honour at the finish line and helped man the water station with volunteers.

Our fire dog Sherlock and his handler Paul recently joined Mill Hill White Watch at a special charity event.

Congratulations and farewell to Islington Red Watch Manager Mick Gibbs who retired this week after 30 years service to the Brigade.
Mick served at Kingsland fire station for 28 years, before moving to Islington fire station for the last 18 months of his career.
Islington Borough Commander Patrick Goulbourne, said: “We wish Mick and his family a happy retirement, he will be missed by Islington borough and the Brigade.”
