Spread out across America are thousands of fire departments ( and volunteer units) , which, while they don't face the enormous stresses and strains of a place like New York City, strive every day to serve and protect their communities

I just stumbled on this video of the East Chicago, Indiana, Fire Department and it shows wonderfully the day to day operations of a small city Fire Service

This is a really nicely made documentary which is maybe even easier to understand than trying to grasp the way a big ( 11,500 member or so) Fire Department such as NYC works
