Old Kent Road’s brand new fire station opened this week. The station’s firefighters had been operating from Deptford and Dockhead fire stations while the rebuild took place, but moved into the new station on Tuesday.
Firefighters at Dockhead fire station have also moved this week. The crew have temporarily relocated to Deptford fire station where they will operate from while upgrade work takes place at their station. Building work is expected to last a year.

Family of four had an extremely lucky escape as their no smoke alarm house was destroyed by a blaze last night in Bromley.
Watch Manager James French said: "I can’t stress how important smoke alarms are. Our firefighters are continuing to assist the Met Police and army bomb disposal experts at a building site in Bermondsey, where an unexploded second World War bomb was discovered yesterday.
The bomb is around five feet long and weighs 1,000lbs. Earlier, crews helped to evacuate residents so the army can continue to make the bomb safe for removal.
