Samsung Galaxy S6: Australian Hands-On

The covers are off! The Samsung Galaxy S6 is here, and we’ve been hands-on from Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. So what’s it like? In a word: surprising.

HTC One M9: New Personality, Same Face

HTC so fancy. You already know. At least that’s what they want you to think with their new flagship, the HTC One M9. It’s the same HTC One you know, except grown up and wearing a tie.

SanDisk Has The First Flash Drive With A Reversible USB Type-C Connector

Remember those rumours about a 12-inch MacBook that ditched a MagSafe connector and traditional USB ports for a single USB Type-C port? If true, SanDisk’s new Dual USB Drive will be the first flash drive that’s able to connect to that redesigned hardware without an ugly adaptor.

What's The Worst Reason You've Heard For Switching To Apple Or Android?

People are always howling about how you NEED to switch to Apple or Android devices. iOS is the best! Android is the … whatever rhymes with Android and is awesome! Sometime they have perfectly good reasons for switching. Other times, not so much. What are the worst reasons you’ve heard?

Building A Hyperloop Test Track Next Year Is A Beautiful Delusion

One of several startups endeavouring to build Elon Musk’s Hyperloop vision thinks it can start building a test track to demonstrate and develop the idea next year. That’s a lovely sounding idea, but let’s file this plan under “insanely hypothetical.”

IKEA Is Now Putting Wireless Charging In Your Furniture

Charging cables? Who needs ‘em. Smartphone makers have been clamouring for ways to ditch those tangled microUSB nuisances — and now the world’s largest furniture retailer is joining the fight.

Hundreds of hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, and hundreds of millions of hours are viewed daily, including many that cover areas of science. Despite this, if you want to use YouTube for science communication, reaching an audience is not always guaranteed.

Huawei's Android Wear Watch Is Handsome, But Still Too Bulky

Huawei is launching not one but three wearables this year at Mobile World Congress, and the new Android Wear-powered Huawei Watch is the most interesting of the trio. The Huawei Watch is nice but also, well, just another Android Wear watch, and to me it’s as bulky as almost every other smartwatch out there — with a couple interesting ideas scattered along the way.

Aorus X3 Plus V3: Australian Review

We really liked the Aorus X3 Plus when we looked at it in September last year, appreciating its just-right mix of satchel-bag portability and outright computing and high-res gaming performance. Aorus’ new and improved version of the X3 Plus has a more powerful graphics card, more SSD storage that is even faster than it was before, and faster RAM to boot.

HP's Spectre X360 Might Be The Best Transforming Laptop I've Ever Seen

Milled aluminium. All-day battery life. Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. A bitchin’ keyboard, and a large, clickable trackpad with excellent multitouch response. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think I was describing a MacBook Air. I’m not — I’m talking HP’s Spectre x360, a gorgeous premium convertible PC that starts at just $US900.

Can A Mini-PC Replace A Console In The Living Room?

We have all been eagerly awaiting Steam OS and the inevitable flood of affordable console like mini-PCs that will let us play our existing library of games in the living room. The problem is Valve’s innovative new wireless controller is not ready, holding up the whole launch. Tired of waiting, some manufacturers have launched their own Windows based setups. But can they compete with your existing console?
