Middle east - Republican letter to Iran warns against deal with Obama

well steve, I hope you survive both physically and economically an all out war with Iran so you can mourn all the innocent people who are going to die fighting it or trying to run away from it, because if no diplomatic solution is reached, then a military one is not far away as for the republican party and Israel's Netanyahu...

Middle east - Republican letter to Iran warns against deal with Obama

The democratic/liberals in the US want Emperor Obama to make all the decisions and not have to work with Congress. That is not the way our Constitution is set up. Any permanent treaties or agreements must have the approval of Congress but Emperor Obama does not want to have to deal with them...that is too difficult for this social organizer who has no clue as to foreign policy nor does any of his staff.

Americas - French stars of sailing, swimming and boxing felled in Argentine helicopter crash

This is one of the poorer regions of Argentina, if not the poorest. Both those helicopters served as the only ambulance available for that people. Now they have no ambulance service, and due to poverty, they will not have another for at least a decade. This is an act of corruption. The government should never had lent those vital machines to a TV show. This will not be the last deaths caused by this accident, but France 24 doesn't care, because that people are not olympic medalists.

Americas - French stars of sailing, swimming and boxing felled in Argentine helicopter crash

Continued: 'Franchised' programs such as this, while often entertaining to watch, are 'mobile entertainment factories' and offer the world little but distraction -- but because they are cheap and easy to produce and make a lot of money for a few people (and offer little risk to broadcasters due to them being already 'market tested' in other tv markets). Again, my deep condolences to those close to who were killed. I would simply leave these questions to be asked: 1) Why were two helicopters flying in close proximity? 2) Was the production schedule being 'rushed' for any reason? (In other words, had they lost time or production days due to weather or other factors? 3) Were the pilots flying influenced by a director or producer who was 'trying to get a shot'? I am sure there will be an inquiry -- I hope that this was just a tragic accident and not the result of trying to 'make television' at the cost of safe practice. Bottom line is that the TV production industry, especially when working on location 'out of country' (which is usually non-union) needs much stricter controls and procedures to ensure events like this do not happen.

Americas - French stars of sailing, swimming and boxing felled in Argentine helicopter crash

Let me begin by expressing my profound sadness for the families of the victims. I was working on a reality television program as a crew member in 2009 when a helicopter crash occurred, killing one crew member on our team and injuring three others (two critically). The crash was a direct result of the production company cutting corners and costs in order to save money -- safety was sacrificed for the sake of television entertainment. While I am not implying that safety was risked or the production company on this program was at fault, I know, after years in the tv business, that the producers of the program often 'push' everyone and everything to the maximum in order to make often unrealistic production schedules -- and budget goals. In the end this sort of programming benefits very few people and simply makes a few executive producers a lot of money, all on the backs of the cast and crew.

In the above article, you use the term "Right-wingers" would you please clarify exactly what group/groups you are referring to? The use of this primary school blanket description is tiresome. For the record, I would have the same request if the term "left-wingers" was used.
