FDNY Team Wins JEMS Games Competition
FDNY EMS members bested 23 other teams to take top honors at the JEMS Games, part of the EMS Today Conference, in Baltimore, Maryland, on Feb. 28.
The team included acting Team Captain Lieutenant Kevin Ramdayal, EMS BOT; Paramedic Joseph Hudak, Station 4; Paramedic Randy Li, Station 27; and Paramedic David Cadogan, Station 26.
For the preliminary round, each team completed a rigorous set of challenges through a timed course, with only the top three fastest times being allowed into the final round. For the final scenario, the members were required to treat multiple patients involved in a simulated helicopter crash. Each team had a total of 20 minutes to manage every patient, with medical complaints ranging from severe allergic reactions to collapsed lungs.
The FDNY team earned first place honors, with teams from North Carolina and Florida grabbing second and third place.
