We had a request from Capt Paddy Brown's family. Jimmy Brown, Paddy's cousin, son Patrick (named after Paddy) is 7 years old and is on the severe end of the Autism Spectrum. The family is in a contest, trying to win him a special adaptive bicycle that would enable him the ability to ride a bike while his parents can control it. The contest is over on March 4 and the person with the most nominations wins. There is no donation involved, it is just the click of a button and you can vote by either email address and or facebook account. For anyone who doesn't know, Captain Patrick Brown of Ladder 3 is a decorated FDNY Fire Officer who lost his life on 9/11/01. Sounds like a VERY low priority; the updated condition is a 21 year old female feeling sick because she 'smoked too much'. Surprised EMS being over ran? Right now there is a fire engine in East New York unavailable to respond fires because they are tied up on this waiting for an ambulance.

February 22, 1945- 70 years ago FF George B Weill, Ladder 23, First Lieutenant U.S. Army 473rd Amphibious Truck Company, was Killed in Action/Missing in Action during World War II. At the time, firemen and policemen did not have to go to war, but FF Weill and many other FDNY Firemen and NYPD Policemen chose to defend their country. FF Weill was posthumously awarded the Silver Star for his actions that day also received the Purple Heart. His body was never found. May he rest in Eternal Peace. His sacrifice will never be forgotten by the Vinegar Hill Gang and his brothers and sisters of the FDNY. Story submitted by: FF Peter Sorbo, TL-23
