Crossmaglen pipe bomb appeal:

Police are appealing for information over the incident in which a man was injured by a pipe bomb in Crossmaglen shortly after 05:15 on Wednesday morning.

The family of Francis McCabe told the Irish News that he had been the "innocent victim" of threats and intimidation. Police say they are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a poster being put up in the area.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that inquests into deaths during the conflict in Northern Ireland could be halted because no money is available to appoint investigators according to the senior coroner.

Senior coroner John Leckey wants to employ specialists to hunt for information about killings during 30 years of violence but has been told nobody is available to undertake the task.

A 37-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of County Antrim woman Pauline Carmichael.

Alan Norman Foster, from Hillside, Antrim, appeared in Coleraine Magistrates Court. He will appear again in court in March.

12 year sentence for murder

A Belfast man has been for the "brutal and senseless" murder of a father of four.

George Gray, who was 52, was beaten to death in his flat on east Belfast's Cregagh Road on 30 August, 2012. Alan Irvine, 31, from Rosebery Gardens, Belfast, pleaded guilty to the murder last month.

The Utility Regulator welcomed the 7.8% average decrease by SSE Airtricitygas supply in its regulated gas tariffs in the greater Belfast area.

Jenny Pyper of the Utility Regulator said: "This now means that Northern Ireland consumers are benefiting from amongst the lowest electricity and gas standard tariffs in the UK."

The Carrick Times reports that a petition to make mental health education compulsory within the Northern Ireland curriculum has been raised at Stormont.

Established by Carrickfergus Grammar School pupil Sara Patterson, the document was presented to the assembly on Monday morning by East Antrim MLA Roy Beggs.
