Doors and Hardware- Advancing Life Saving Solutions and Preventing Another Triangle Shirtwaist Fire

NOTE: One architecture related journal that interests me is called "Door Hardware Industry" or DHI for short. As you can imagine, it is very specialized and technical. One monthly feature I like is a two page spread of photos that the author takes on his travels around the country and around the world. The photos are of doors (naturally) that are odd, or have illegally or absurdly installed hardware. This happens all too frequently as the conflicting goals of fire-safety and security arise. It would be funny if it weren't so dangerous. In 1911, in Manhattan, 146 people were killed when they were prevented from exiting a burning building by illegally locked doors.
