ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WJLA) – A Fairfax County apartment fire that displaced dozens of people was caused by a 7-year-old child.
Fire officials say the child was experimenting with matches in a closet on the ground floor of the Morningside Apartments, off of Zircon Drive in Alexandria, when the fire broke out just before 2 p.m. Sunday.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one unit where it started, but heavy smoke and water damage affected several other units.
