Motorists are being warned to take extra care on the roads this evening.
A 'yellow weather alert' is in place around the country for snow and ice.
Met Eireann has forecast up to 3 centimetres of snow in Ulster, north Leinster, and parts of east Connacht.
Tony Tobin, Training Director with the Institute of Advanced Motorists of Ireland, has advice for driving in snowy and icy conditions:
