NPR- Diane Rehm Show= Psychedelic Drugs for PTSD etc,

I have PTSD. A lot of people have PTSD or think they do or have been told they do..

Rehm show tonight all about this and using Psychedelic Drugs to treat PTSD ( roughly one half million veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan have PTSD and the VA is not doing what it might...at least tonights guests were very convinced of this.

One Dr. Giordano was on hand to be the voice of the Establishment I guess but he was agreeing that these drugs could be very useful..

I want to talk to John McCaffrey about this for the TIMH e-newsletter-- TIMH doesn't deal with psychedelics, but we might want to ask them and give it a mention

Millions of Americans suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, including hundreds of thousands of veterans. Yet standard drug and therapy treatments have mixed success rates. Some cases of PTSD are considered untreatable. But researchers are seeing dramatic results from therapy that uses psychedelic drugs to treat PTSD, depression and addiction. Therapy involving substances like Psilocybin and MDMA, better known as ecstasy, show 80 percent success rates years after treatment. Diane and a panel of guests discuss new research on drugs that have long been considered dangerous and illicit.
