Nation's Top Hospitals, Starting with Massachusetts- from Medscape

When I was in school at the NYC College of Technology, one of my Professors, Mr. McVicker,  was surprised to see my doctor's note for missing a class came from NY Presbyterian Weil-Cornell ( which I could have gone without but I wanted him to know it was a real illness)--

"Oh," he said, you have the sense to go to a GOOD hospital.
"I just had an experience with that," he said, referring to a death in his family," it only occurred to me later what a difference there is between hospitals and better health outcomes."

Well, when it comes to health in America, it usually is like everything else-- it's all about money.

Anyway, here is an interesting low down on the latest reports on best hospitals

A new list of the nation's top hospitals has been released by the Leapfrog Group, and this year, 94 made the cut, which is four more than last year. Among them are 60 urban, 25 rural, and nine children's hospitals.
The annual survey, published December 2 by the nonprofit Leapfrog Group, which represents large employers and other purchasers of healthcare, compares hospitals' performance on national standards of patient safety, quality, efficiency, and management structures to prevent errors.
This year, Massachusetts doubled its number, now having 10 hospitals on the list. Three states made their first appearance: Alabama, Kentucky, and Rhode Island. A complete list of hospitals is available on the company's website.
