Jihad is a Let Down for Some New Recruits- Link to the Independent

Young men of whatever background frequently have STRONG dreams of glory ( as do young women, even if it has something to do about their idea wedding); in the case of the young men, of course, there is going to be a great deal of disappointment for most of them ( as in "There 's a broken heart for every light on Broadway"--love that old chestnut).

Any, when it comes to Dreams Military, I feel my reading Stephen Crane's  "The Red Badge of Courage " when I was 15 and then" All Quiet on the Western Front" at age 16, plus talking more heart to heart to World War II veterans of my father's circle, mad me realize that these dreams of glory are fine ( in all sorts of areas: The world really needs Firefighters, for example) but-- well,  "Watch out what you wish for," as they say.

Here is a story about some disgruntled young Jihadists from the Independent that makes the point again ( as one young French Jihadist  says: " My iPod doesn't work out here..." and other disappointments:)

Jihad isn't all it's cracked up to be, say disgruntled Isis recruits

Messages home contrast bizarrely with the image of implacable and hard-hearted jihad peddled by terror websites
