You can enjoy the night view from the boat here. Also it's a convenient transportation between city and Khaosan road.

Bangkok is amazing. At times I hate the smog, traffic, noise, crowds, heat, humidity and at other times I just love this city. The waterways are a fun way to get around. There are literally spots on the street where you can view multiple shopping malls, it is insane but somehow spectacular. Food is fantastic. Temples are worth a stop. Then get out of town and head for the sea, mountains, plains... whatever just get out. There is much more to Thailand than Bangkok.

Bangkok is an amazing city, words cannot describe how incredible the biggest city in Thailand is, but it is a must for all travelers. For budget hotels/hostels, book something in Khao San Road district. This is one of the main tourist areas of Bangkok and close to some of the major tourist sites, such as The Grand Palace, Wang Na Palace, Wat Saket (Golden Palace), and many others.

This is a large city with over 15 million people. There is so much to see here that you need a couple days just to get to the highlights. The Grand Palace, the Emerald Buddha and the Reclining Buddha are just a few of things to see.

Bangkok for me is that rare place: a big city that's also my favorite spot in the entire country. It's enough to love the city for its food -- pork-rice and grilled chicken and fresh passionfruit juice on the street, dirt-cheap pad thai in food-court kitchens, fiery Isan cuisine, and excellent Western grub if you find yourself tired of noodles. Still, once you've eaten your way into a larger waistband, there's more than enough to keep you busy: astonishing temples like the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, or the fantastic Khmer-style Wat Arun across the river; or fabulous malls to people-watch and keep cool in (you get to appreciate their air-con in the Bangkok heat!) It's a great city for nightlife, and one of the world's best traveller centers. It's gritty and hectic and crowded, to be sure, but each time you come back you'll find you love it a little more.

The mecca of SouthEast Asia. No better food or friendlier people anywhere else in the world. Truly the gem of the SE.

Bangkok is a city that coasts by day and thrives by night. It boasts one of the strangest yet exhilarating night scenes in the world, as well as plenty of high-end restaurants, hotels, and high-perched drinking spots. There's no shortage of street food or chic cafes, and enough shopping to keep one moving for a week. Plenty of Buddhist culture in the city with shrines and temples. Bangkok is an eccentric mix of the rich and the poor, the intellectual expat and the go-go guy, the regal and the bizarre, and enough activity and buzz to make it a "can't miss" city.

Bangkok had nice people and many areas to eat and sleep. If you didn't pay attention though, some tuk tuks will rip you off or take you to places you hadn't planned on going to. Taxis are super cheap and it's the best way to get around other than walking by foot. Starting at 35 baht for a taxi ride. I was able to get from Bangkok to Phetchaburi on only 600 baht. There are many great temples located in Bangkok as well! A great place to go to as a backpacker is Khaosan Road.

Bangkok is one of my favourite cities in South East Asia simply because of the good food (you hardly can go wrong going to any restaurants in Bangkok), friendliness of the people (they are just naturally friendly) and excellent spas. Moving around Bangkok is now more manageable as you can also take the monorail as alternatives to taxis or tuk tuk. It is also quite safe to roam around on our own.

I've been to this city maybe 20 times over the past 15 years, and never get tired of it. First, the street food is phenomenal -- spicy, fresh, hot and cheap. Second, the Buddhist temples scattered throughout the city are oases of meditative calm (and in the case of Wat Po, also a Thai massage school). Third, whenever you get tired of being jammed up in traffic, you can take a water taxi along the river and feel like you've passed back into time by a few decades or a century. Fourth, the markets are also incredible, whether you're looking for a T-shirt or a gold amulet.

I only spent two days in Bangkok and I felt it wasn't enough... the city is beautiful and there is much to do, especially on the weekends. When in Bangkok make sure you visit Wat Pho, Wat, Arun, and the Grand Palace. Make some time for some shopping at one of their many shopping malls and night markets. Also, if you have time you must watch a Muay Thai Fight! I'm ready to go back and explore the rest of the city.

Temple of Golden Buddha. The world's largest solid-gold Buddha weighing 5 tons is seated in Wat Traimit. It has very interesting history that you should learn about!

I really enjoyed every minute in this city. Starting from morning breakfast on the streets to them packing away their stalls quickly after to street shopping at night and of course eating by the street at night. This city has loads to offer aside of the temples. This place beats any place hollow as far as trendy, chic cheap shopping goes. Food is just yumm anywhere. This city completely transforms to a different place at night. Very Lively..Definitely repeatable. Very similar to Mumbai. Definitely going back. Please do include this city in your trips to Phuket or other destinations and give it atleast 2 days. This city will charm you.

In the UK we go to greats pains to be self-deprecating about our nation and never miss an opportunity to make light of our queen and her brood, but in Thailand they take patriotism and their royals a lot more seriously. Backpackers sometimes find themselves wondering why everyone has just stood up before the film starts – it’s because they’re playing the national anthem. If you don’t want to be at the receiving end of a large fine/bribe, I suggest you stand as well. If you want to continue having fun and hangin’ with the ladyboys, don’t ever make fun of the king or belittle the royal family. This extends as far as treating the local currency – the baht – with respect. Stepping on or setting fire to banknotes is seen as treason and could even land you in jail. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Find Hotels in Bangkok:

Description

Bangkok, the Thai capital, is the epitome of concrete jungle: with no real geographic or cultural focal point, it is easy to get lost in this sprawling metropolis. Bangkok, once called the 'Venice of the East,' was a city of canals, most now covered over by roadways (or so polluted, it just seems so). Take a canal boat (or dinner cruise) to see the softer side of the in-your-face city. To get off the streets and catch your breath, flag down one of the ubiquitous tuk-tuks (auto rickshaws) or hop on the new Skyrail. But Bangkok is not all grit and business. Several hundred years of palaces and temples span the city. For history buffs, check out the Grand Palace, an example of grand Thai architecture and the former home of the royal family. After dark, the Silom district hosts some of the world’s most notorious after-hours activities, but chaste evenings include drinks on rooftop high-rise bars or catching a band or performance. Or, considering this is Thailand, eat. From international fusion at five-star hotels to street food (deep-fried insects are a delicacy for the adventurous), eating is Bangkok's favorite pastime.
