YCMTSU Kansas: Drunk Driving Fire Truck

A 24 year old female firefighter is accused of taking a fire truck on a joy ride last Saturday evening, something she may have even gotten away with had she not started talking on the radio.

Chelsea Matthew is facing charges of driving under the influence after taking a Lincoln-Ottawa-Harrison Fire District brush unit for a ride without permission. She may also be facing theft charges as well. While driving the brush unit, Matthew called dispatch over the radio to report that she was being pursued by another firefighter.

Matthew’s voice is recorded on the dispatch audio as saying: “The emergency is that an LOH firefighter was following me. I was at the station on standby. The LOH fire followed me to standby and was harassing me.”
