Finding Hopper and the Nighthawks
Of course we all like Edward Hopper’s enigmatic moody paintings that explore both physical space as well as internal/emotional spaces. And of course one of our all time favorite paintings is “Nighthawks”. I recently came across this article where the writer goes on a quest to find the exact physical location of Hopper’s most well-known work in New York City.
The answer is 70 Greenwich Avenue at 11th Street and I am inclined to agree. A florist shop sits today in the spot where Hopper must have frequented. Take a look at the photos and judge for yourself.
