Sunday, December 7, 2014 Officials said a Houston firefighter suffered a broken leg after a "mechanical problem" at a Houston fire scene Friday night.
"We had some mechanical problems when we got on location and had one firefighter get injured while we were hooking up the fire hydrant," Houston firefighter Scott Artze told KTRK.com.

Fire officials said the fire damaged the attic and garage of the home on Trail Lake Lane around 8:30 p.m.
The firefighter was recovering in the hospital early Saturday morning.

Sunday, December 7, 2014 A woman was injured after colliding with a battalion chief who was responding to a working fire in Philadelphia early Saturday.
Firefighters were responding to a dwelling fire in the 3300 block of Jasper Street around 2 a.m., WACU reported.
Just blocks from the scene, at Jasper and East Atlantic Streets, the battalion chief's vehicle crashed with a woman, who police says is an unlicensed driver.

She was transported to the hospital. It is unknown if the chief was injured.

Sunday, December 7, 2014 Two Hartford firefighters were involved in an altercation at a fire house on Saturday.
At about 1:40 p.m. Hartford police officers were dispatched to the fire house at 25 Blue Hills Avenue for a report of a fight between two Hartford Fire Department lieutenants.
According to police, the incident involves a reported fight between the two lieutenants at a fire located at 16 Chatham Street. The fire was reported at 11:56 a.m. on Saturday.
Police said that both lieutenants, and a witness who is a Hartford Fire Department employee, were interviewed. Neither of the lieutenants wanted to press charges.

Saturday, December 6, 2014 As the investigation into the Line of Duty Death of HFD Firefighter Kevin Bell enters its third month, there is more about what transpired at Engine 16, where he worked, in the days leading up to the fatal fire.An email was sent from Hartford Fire Lt. John Nolan to Hartford Fire Chief Carlos Huertas outlining safety concerns just two days before the fire.
There are reports that firefighters at Engine Company 16 have been without a thermal imaging camera for months--and they did not have one at the time of the fatal fire...and the equipment issues were not new. Much more to come as this tragic loss in investigated.

Saturday, December 6, 2014 A Detroit man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in a fire that paralyzed a Firefighter. If you have seen the movie DETROIT BURN, you know the Firefighter: Brendan Milewski.
Criminal Calvin Jones got the punishment this week in Ann Arbor federal court. He struck a plea deal in and the seven-year sentence was the recommendation of prosecutors and Jones’ attorney
DFD Firefighter Brendan Milewski was paralyzed operating at that fire at a commercial building in Detroit in 2010. Many other DFD Firefighters were injured.
Jones filled plastic bottles with gasoline for co-defendant Samson Wright who will go to trial next year.
Wright and Jones set the fire at that Metro PCS store on Detroit’s east side in 2010. As Firefighters operated, the ceiling and roof of the second floor burned completely through.
