BLOG DELAYED LATE TONIGHT THANKS TO K MART STORE 7749 in NYC and good old CHIFFON in Customer Service

I don't know when I will get to the blog tonight.

I had a terrible time at K Mart today trying to exchange some curtains for some longer but same style and brand (2 piece Logan red , room darkening) ( I did not want room darkening especially -ha! if you knew how dark my apt. is to begin with-- wanted insulating properties they promised! (Curtains have 90 day return policy and are in great shape by the way, not damged at all like it says on return slip but we are getting to that in a second).

I have to tell you what makes this sort of silly in a cosmic sense is that these are not expensive curtains. $10.88  picked up in store).

After a frustrating time on the phone dealing with some other idiots, I took the subway down to 34th Street and Seventh Avenue ( the 3 Train from 96th and Bway).

After looking all over the Home Decor department by myself and then with a store rep who knew nothing, we found everything but, of course, the right curtains.

They sent me to Customer Service at this Store 7749 on West 42nd Street to counter 17, returns/Customer Service where this Chiffon woman ( I mean, her name is Chiffon, she is not made of chiffon nor does she wear chiffon nor does she have any relation to the singing group the Chiffons ).

She charged me $10.88 on my bank card and then I paid her another $4.80 or whatever it was I was told I had to pay because it  was an exchange and it was being shipped to the store and I could pick it up on Friday. I HAVE TO ADD HER SHE JUST TOOK THE CASH and DID NOT TELL ME I WAS BEING CHARGED THE MONEY ON THE CARD. SHE TOLD ME TO SWIPE THE CAR ' FOR RECORD PURPOSES ONLY.'

I LATER WONDERED AND CALLED THE BANK AND OF COURSE THEY HAD CHARGED ME THE $10.88.

After doing everything else I had to do today, which was half OK and half not OK, I started to write an email to my architect friend Ron in California asking what I could do as an emergency replacement for curtains.

What I had done on my own was first taken a lightweight flannel throw and fastened it with rubber bands up to the brackets for the curtains

Window in my apartment, above, you see the 3M  plastic kit stuff on the window interior. You are supposed to now take a hair dryer and turn it on the plastic to make it fit tighter. I don't have a hair dryer and know no one who does at the moment except Sara and she would be== it wouldn't be worth it going all the way to her place on the East Side to get her hair dryer. I am not going to buy a hair dryer ( where, at KMart? And then return it after I have sealed my windows with it? After today, s*it to that idea, I mean, don't even START to go there).

OK, "curtain" not put up ( there is a pull down shade for this window but it came with apt and did not work well and "super" was supposed to come tomorrow a.m. and fix it/replace it, forget that now)...there is added padding against bottom of window interior).

OK, desk back in place out from the wall a little as there is a heating outlet right behind it. Small trickle of it heat is all that comes out of this "radiator" panel even in coldest of times. Thank you, landlord Matthew Finkle of Related Management.

Called KMart then after taking pictures for Ron ( not for this, I had no idea of this article)

Unbelievable experience with emails from KMart now telling me my curtains had been SHIPPED OUT BY UPS TO MY OLD ADDRESS ON EAST 35th STREET.

TRIED TO "CHAT" ONLINE WITH 'ERIN' ( Erin has as much to do with Erin go Bragh as she does with the Great Wall of China, obviously) who TELLS ME SHE CANNOT REALLY HELP ME BECAUSE SHE HAS NO ORDER INFORMATION THERE AT 'CHAT' ONLINE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I HAVE CALLED STORE BEFORE ON 34th STREET AND BEEN GIVEN THE BRUSH OFF WHEN ASKED 'CUSTOMER SERVICE' THERE ABOUT $10.88 CHARGE'OH,' SAYS HOSTILE VOICE OF NEW YORK WOMAN OF COLOR IT SEEMS, ' YOU WILL GET A CREDIT BACK TO YOUR ACCOUNT IN 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS...PROBABLY" AND THEN SHE HANGS UP ON ME.

Now I call the number listed online and get a guy name -Sealey?--that's what it sounded like. He is from Phillipines but does not want to tell me where he is taking my call from.

I like people from the Phillipines especially compared with people from New York City. I have two Facebook friends who are from the Phillipines. Very nice, gentle people. ( I am sure there are others who are NOT so nice and gentle, of course, one of whom I remember has this "shoe thing" and left the country with half the Treasury in her Swiss bank account-- but on with my story).

Poor Sealy after hearing my harangue and then my apology for it tells me that his records show UPS IS DELIVERING THE CURTAINS TO WEST 34TH STREET STORE 7749, TRY CALLING THEM FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND SEE IF THEY ARE IN YET. OR BETTER YET JUST GO TO STORE AND SEE IF THEY ARE THERE.

UH, SEALY, I AM ON WEST 102nd Street near Central Park West and Store is at West 34th Street and Seventh Avenue..

I do not like riding the subways for nothing. I get hate glares from an element of the population if I wear my woolen cap that says "FDNY " on it. I do not stare these people down, I try to ignore the mothers.

But after doctor's appt Friday morning I will try to call store and then probably I hope they say yes, or if they are not sure will go there anyway? _is that sane?-- Do I have any sanity left today?

I was going to write to Ron ( regards to Deb and their cat, Mr. Pinky)-- ( a rescue cat named Pinky, he gets the honorific " Mr. " from me as  I understand he is very much a territorial nocturnal but aging male cat).

Instead I will send him link to this. I mean Ron, not Mr. Pinky.

Later, gators.
