FDNY Promotes 30 Chiefs
The newly promoted Fire chiefs.
The FDNY celebrated leadership on Nov. 13, promoting 30 of its top
chiefs during a ceremony at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn.
“The vast experience of this group will influence the direction of
the FDNY and improve the safety, training and response of our members
for years to come,“ Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.
One member was promoted to Assistant Chief, nine to Deputy Assistant Chief and 20 to Deputy Chief.
The newly promoted chiefs will be assigned to units throughout the five boroughs.
Among the promoted members was James Daly, the new Assistant Chief of
Operations; Robert Strong, Chief of Administration; and Anthony De
Vita, Jr., Chief of Planning.
In addition, several Borough Commanders were promoted, including
Brooklyn Borough Commander Wayne Cartwright, Staten Island Borough Chief
Richard Howe and Manhattan Borough Commander Daniel Donoghue, Jr. In
addition, Paul Cresci was named Chief of Safety, Andrew Dipadova was
named Chief of Communications and Edward Ferrier will work in the Bureau
of Fire Prevention.
“Right now the Department's strength and depth of experience are
unprecedented,” Chief of Department James Leonard said. ”We know you
will leave this Department better than it was before.”
