FDNY Hosts Fire Prevention Week Events

The FDNY is hosting numerous events throughout the five boroughs for National Fire Prevention Week, which runs from Oct. 5 to 11.

Established in 1922, National Fire Prevention Week commemorates the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which killed more than 250 people and destroyed more than 17,400 structures. Fire departments throughout the country mark the tragic fire’s anniversary by informing the public about the importance of fire safety and prevention.
