HELP NEEDED FOR THE FIREFIGHTERS THAT WERE BURNED LAST WEEK IN THE TOWER LADDER ELECTRICAL SHOCK INCIDENT, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

Thursday, August 28, 2014  The families of Campbellsville, Kentucky (FF's burned in tower ladder electric shock) Captain Tony Grider and Firefighter Alex Quinn want to express their appreciation for all the thoughts, prayers, calls, visits, messages of support, and department patches that have been received.  The outpouring of support has been more than overwhelming.

The patches have been placed in each firefighter's room as visible signs of the support that has poured in.

MAYDAY AT OREGON FIRE FOLLOWING SMOKE EXPLOSION

Wednesday, August 27, 2014  Firefighters had to call for help while putting out a fire at a commercial building in Oregon City Wednesday morning.

A passer-by called 911 to report the fire in a shopping center on Molalla Avenue near May Street just before 5 a.m.

Firefighters responding to the scene made a mayday call after a backdraft threw two crew members back about 10 feet. One firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital with minor burns.

Firefighters said they had the flames under control by 6:45. They said it appeared the fire started in the back of the building.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the fire.

Wednesday, August 27, 2014  A firefighter was taken to a hospital for heat-related injuries he suffered while battling a fire that damaged six homes in the borough Tuesday evening. It was just after 6 p.m. when firefighters were called for a structure fire to the rear of the 200 block of East Centre Street and met with heavy smoke and fire. Anthony Blackwell, Mahanoy City Fire Department administrative assistant and safety officer, said it is believed the fire originated to the rear of 223 and 225 E. Centre St. and spread from there. Fire damage was reported to an occupied building at 217 E. Centre St., with heavier fire damage to unoccupied homes at 219, 221, 223, 225 and 227 E. Centre St. Blackwell said two additional occupied homes at 229 and 231 E. Centre St. sustained some smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and Blackwell said a state police fire marshal will be called into assist. MEMPHIS FF INJURED AT HOUSE FIRE

Monday, August 25, 2014  One Memphis Firefighter was taken to Germantown Methodist Hospital in stable condition while fighting a house fire on the 4000 block of Kennibec Cove Saturday afternoon.

No civilians were injured in the fire, but the Red Cross provided assistance to the home's three adults and one child.
