The future is now. Technology is evolving, and it’s a good
thing. Here are some groundbreaking tech trends that will change
everything, brought to you by Verizon IndyCar.

1. Wearables
Imagine a world where the things you
wear actually make life easier, instead of just more fashionable and
comfortable. Like computer goggles, or this nifty finger reader
developed at MIT.
2. The Internet of Things
Imagine a toothbrush that’s connected
to your phone so you can view how well you’re actually brushing your
teeth every day. Well, that’s the internet of things, and yes, this toothbrush
exists. The recent trend of building physical objects that you interact
with through the internet is a really interesting development, as long
as we can keep our objects out of the hands of trolls.
3. Home Automation

Believe it or not, you can now you
can start to automate things, such as your refrigerator, and teach it to
manage your food for you so you don’t have to. This way, you’ll save
money on food by not letting things go to waste!
4. Growth of Mobile

While it seems that everyone has
phones these days, that’s actually not the case. For now. But with
recent advancements in mobile technology, it’s becoming more and more
possible to get a smartphone in the hands of people everywhere.
5. Drones

The days of late-night food runs will
soon be a thing of the past, as we’ll be able just to summon our fleet
of drones to retrieve our sandwiches and greasy burritos. Of course,
there are probably more practical applications than these, but why not
have some fun while we’re at it?
6. Healthcare Technology

Better technology means better
medical equipment, which doctors can use to identify and treat diseases
that we were absolutely clueless about five years ago. Anticipate the
average lifespan rising in the coming years.
7. Artificial Intelligence

So scientists are developing robots
that can make decisions for themselves and actually do things… like
climbing trees — such as this robot snake — or playing soccer, or
anything, really. Pretty soon you’ll have to wonder if that person you
met on the subway is actually a human or not.
8. Advancements in Nanotech
So this here is a spermbot, aka a
magnetic nanotube that is powered by bull sperm and controlled with
magnets and temperature changes. We’re slowly getting to the point where
we can engineer materials atom by atom, which has pretty crazy
implications for consumer electronics as well as health care.
9. Bluetooth

Sure, bluetooth has been around for some time now, but with iOS 7’s new Multipeer Connectivity Framework,
companies are starting to create functionalities that can connect users
without an internet connection over larger ranges. This could have a
huge implication for emergency response, third-world countries, and
areas that simply can’t access good internet in general.
10. Privacy in Tech

Of course, after last year, everyone
now is fully aware that whatever you do on the internet can very well be
seen by someone else. As a result, there has been and will continue to
be a rise in privacy focused messaging applications, ranging from texts
to image sharing.
