The Search for X- in equations- Blogger

One of the things that has always amused me ( and annoyed me) was the way " finding the value of x" in equations is taught in U.S. schools ( and maybe most schools everywhere).

"X" is always treated like this mysterious planet or the answer to a riddle that just has one meaning..

Whereas in reality, everyone zips past the simple fact that when it comes to the equation

X IS SIMPLY ANY AND ALL VALUES WHICH SATISFY THE EQUATION.

So for one equation we might get the answers  +3 and -3 because both will work in the equation.

Let's start teaching children this early...
