Yelp Picks- Yoga in Manhattan- Yoga to the People Flatiron

I LOVE this studio. I have been to a couple of different studios in new york city and hands down this is my favorite. The space is wonderful, the locker rooms are a decent size, and the showers(4) are very cleaned and daily disinfected. Everything is $2, ranging from a mat rental, towel, or any of the drinks. All of the teachers are great, but if your lucky you will be able to have the opportunity to take Shay's, Holly's, and Aubrey's classes. They are just wonderful and very motivating and may i add funny. It is always a great time to get in touch with yourself and interchange smile with mind like people. I have been coming to this studio for 2 consecutive months now and am going to sign up for my 3rd month tonight.

As stated above, you can not go wrong by giving this studio a shot. Go for it. ;)

    The good:
    -Affordable classes
-Spacious changing room with three showers
-Great instructors (the one last night stepped on the back of my feet during savasana for a mini footrub and I was in heaven!)

    The meh:
-I feel like they pack too many people in like sardines making it a less intimate intimate vibe but that's the compromise for subsidized yoga!

Love YTTP!  The classes are CHEAP and the instructors are great!  I always feel welcome when I go into any of the YTTP locations in NYC.  I never buy packages because I don't practice yoga regularly, but if I ever feel the need to detox or realign my body, I hit up a hot yoga class.  They have matts and towels you can rent (I usually rent a matt, but bring my own towel), and some locations even have showers because you get DRENCHED in sweat.

If you can get past the scent of body odor that inevitably fills the entire studio, this is a great place.

I've been going here for almost a year, so obviously I enjoy it! I go to the 6:30pm class mondays and fridays. It is always packed, usually selling out on Mondays so I suggest signing up in advance, which you can do online or in person. The front desk staff is great, always have a smile and try to remember your name even! The owner is a little pushy about buying packages and classes... to the point where he tries to convince my friends and I to spend hundreds of dollars on unlimited classes, when we only go twice a week.

I am taking a mini hiatus from Hot Yoga and will be trying out a different studio, but I know I will be back YTTP. I will miss Shay and Holly the mostest!

This studio deserves more than 5 stars!
The staff and instructors are very friendly and knowledgable. I typically attend the 8:30-9:30pm class because it seems to be less crowded.

My first month in the city I bought a 30 day pass to a Bikram studio a few blocks away, but ended up going here during the time because it had a less pretentious attitude. Everyone comes to practice not to show off. The $8 price tag is just icing on the cake. It's the best!

The plus is that it is a really lovely studio and I like the heated room.  I had gone to other YTP classes a long time ago but I didn't realize this location teaches the BIKRAM class although perhaps legally they are not allowed to state that.

What I don't like about that sequence they do is the multiple mini-savasanas.  I'd rather just rest at the end in quiet.  The instructor talked non-stop so there wasn't a single moment of silence the entire 90 minutes.

I'm sure some folks are OK with that but for me, a little quiet goes a long way in my enjoyment of the class.

Hooked, line and sinker! Signed up for 30 package. Make sure to get a key tag, it would make checking in faster. If you buy water, you can put money on declining balance.

Holly is awesome! She's totally attentive to new people and picks on the old ones. She's the bestest!

Absolutely love this place. No reservation required and you donate what you can give.  This studio really got me into yoga and has changed my life.  I feel better and look better. I've tried other places and this one is definitely my top pick.

My only negative is that it can get a little crowded and it's hard to do some of the poses.

Who would pass up a $8 hot yoga class in Manhattan? That's right, no one.

I decided to try this place with a couple of my friends last month and I've been coming back and bringing new friends with me. :) The price is great ($8/class, $2/towel and $2/water), the instructors are friendly but stern, and everyone is courteous. The studio is also pretty big considering how small the staircase leading up to the studio is. The check-in is right in front of the door, just make sure you take your shoes off before you enter the studio. There are plenty of lockers in the locker room, but if you don't feel like going into the locker, you could always use the cubbies in the front. There are also giant fans to cool you off after class to the left when you exit the studio room.

I have done Bikram before and this studio is pretty great in that it offers 60-minute and 90-minute classes. Check their website for classes. I've done both the 60- and 90-minute classes and I still prefer the 90-minute class, since I love getting my sweat on. But I have to say, the 60-minute classes are still challenging because the instructors still push you in that short amount of time. For a smaller class, I suggest going to the 4:30pm (60-minute) classes. If you can't make it, the 6:30pm (90-minute) classes are great, too. Just be prepared to be very close to your yogi neighbor.

So if you are looking for a new studio, to try a new yoga style, or to save some money, I suggest dropping by this Yoga to the People studio on 27th Street. You won't be regretting it.

I absolutely love this studio.  The teachers and other employees are friendly, yet aren't afraid to be stern when necessary.  I appreciate that when someone tries to sneak into a room that's already packed.

I've done Bikram in a few other studios, and this is my favorite.  Yes, in part that's due to affordability - but I find the rest of the experience fairly similar to the much more expensive studios so why pay more?  I also really like the "everything is $2" which makes it easier to know how much I'm spending, plus they aren't trying to gouge you on hydration.

I haven't found the people to be pushy, and I think every Bikram studio smells a bit funky so I'm thrown by the negative reviews.

All around, I highly recommend this studio and only think it could be improved by being right next to my apartment.

This yoga studio is no fuss, all sweat.  Just the way it should be.

Easy check in, a spacious practice room, and three shower stalls (with fellow yogis who are respectful of the time limits) makes the whole environment very friendly to those of us who need to get in and out quickly.  Plus, the instructors will push and direct you to get the most out of your practice, so you'll never walk away feeling like you had anything less than an awesomely challenging workout.

If you are super lucky you'll get Anne Elyse as your instructor.  Girl knows her stuff and will have you cruising through even the hardest poses.

Give it a try... the price is too good to turn down!

Affordable hot yoga with talented instructors in a clean and spacious facility! I recently finished the 10 class package here ($75), and just renewed it because I had such a great experience here. It's less snobby than some hardcore bikram studios I've been to, and I really like the practice space, the 60 and 90 min options, and the instructors. I would recommend coming before 5pm so you can to avoid the packed after work crowd. You can rent mats and towels for $2 each. Get ready to bring a change of clothes and sweat it out.

I first got introduced to Yoga to the People through a Living Social voucher I purchased.

If you love bikram/hot yoga then this is definitely the place to come. It is a beautiful spacious studio with clean bathrooms & showers. The studio itself is very spacious and can fit about a good 30-40 people (don't quote me).

The price per class is $8, however, you can buy various packages and can save a ton of money. They have even updated their website and you can save your spot & pay online the day of a class. If you need to rent or purchase anything like a yoga mat, towels, shorts, water, etc. they have all of that available for an extra cost. Everything except the shorts is $2.

I love this location, but the only down side is that it can get packed after work hours. However, that is to be expected since most people seem to go there straight from work. They also have 1 hour classes available, if you're schedule doesn't allow you to partake in the original 1 1/2 hour classes with 26 poses.

The staff is extremely friendly at this place & I always find myself coming back. I STRONGLY recommend for you to go & check it out if you're a yogi/beginner/or learning about different yoga styles.
