It looks like trying to become a Navy Seal or something...in fact, a lot of NYC firefighters are battle tested veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan...I would not be surprised to find some former Navy Seals among them/
All of our Firefighters shine constantly in their commitment to public safety and for the physical courage ,technical abilities and in the confidence we all have learned to place in them.
And this is HARDLY the time for anyone to be falling into the icy waters of the Hudson ( meanwhile, the Coast Guard has had to break up ice in NY Harbor to make the shipping lanes passable).
So you can ignore all those stories about the paltry few bad apple Firefighters who file dishonest disability claims, and again, consider what an incredible effort our Firefighters are making 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
FDNY plucks man from icy Manhattan Beach waters
Two firefighters rescued a man from icy waters off Manhattan Beach on Tuesday, officials said.FDNY responded to Kingsborough Community College where they were told a man was drowning in the ocean around 1:00 p.m.
When rescuers located the man about thirty minutes later, two firefighters plunged into the water and sifted him out onto the rocks, placed him onto a backboard and loading him into an ambulance, FDNY said.
The man was transported to Coney Island Hospital in serious condition but is expected to live, authorities said.
It is not immediately clear if he was a student at Kingsborough Community College. The school had no comment.
So take another look at all the FDNY is doing in this and other areas on their website
