Another interactive map on crime in NYC
The first map you see is of ALL crimes which means areas like Midtown near Times Square are indicated as high crime areas...this is because of so many pickpockets etc. in that area.
Check out the categories like rape, murder, etc., to get a better idea of what is happening where.
