Wyndham Hotel

Another place totally new to me

Let us check Yelp or somewhere else if Yelp does not have it listed

Reasonably good reviews..people find it reasonably priced, clean, convenient...but maids are noisy when they are cleaning...

One guy who had a bad time there goes on forever about it...sheesh...when people get steamed up sometimes they really love to vent on Yelp...but that is what Yelp is for I guess

Exceptional service by the hotel. They are most willing to accept articles prior to guest arrival without charges. The other hotel in New York will so only only if I pay them a nominal fee. They are very prompt in replying any queries posted to them via email or Facebook and so I have less problem in getting in touch with them on my package.

The only complaint is the pathetic size of my room. Barely any walking space, no additional sofa or coffee table. Just a queen size bed, a mini writing desk with a lamp and charger pin plug, coffee maker with 2 wolfgang puck coffee and decaf sachets kept in the wardrobe. There are two tiny side table at the bed. The bathroom is quite reasonable in size, a sink with a WC next to it and a standing shower area adjacent to it. Amenities are available: shower cap, liquid shower foam, bar soap, shampoo and conditioner. Towels, hand towels and face towels are supplied. The room comes with a 37" flat screen TV with remote control and digital AC controller against the wall.

Daily newspapers are available at the lobby next to the lift landing. There's a computer free to use and printer as well at the lobby. Wifi is complimentary in the room but the network is not very efficient compared to others but its a nice gesture especially for hotels in NY (most of them charge u for wifi service).

Conveniently located in the middle of the 24th street, just walked right when u exit the entrance and u will get to the Starbucks just across the corner, next to the junction. Across the street, u get to see a large supermarket - Wholefoods market & a Jamba Juice shop across it. It is so easily accessible by subway: Metro station - 23rd street. Just 5-8minutes walk and u can trot to and forth the subway to the hotel.

The street is quite quiet but safe. No issue.

Generally, the hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The entire place is clean and there's a restaurant that attracts crowd at the patio during dinner time. I enjoyed the brief stay here even though I had only a nite here to catch my train to Montreal early next day, I will be back if I wish to stay in the Chelsea area. I prefer a calmer neighborhood, the last I put up for a 8nights was at a much worst off hotel at Times Square, everything is paying nothing is complimentary in NY and Wyndham gesture is hard to come by surely. Can u imagine they are charging me like $1.70 for a cup of hot water as boiler or coffee maker is not available in the room. No wifi service except for pay-per-use scheme if u are hard up for it. Bathroom extremely tiny but Wyndham is way better than that. No regrets.

The Wyndham Garden is not a five star hotel. It's actually far away from being one, and that's okay.

The thing is, that it offers deals that are excellent for the area. Located on 24th street, you can get a deal for 150-200 USD, which I'd consider a fair price in a city where hotel prices are higher than the ubiquitous skyscrapers.

Service is average: The people at the reception are friendly, if you make an effort to be friendly first after a 12 hour trip. The person that checked me in warmed up quickly and was nice enough to give me a free room update upon request.

Rooms in general seem to be small and, if you are on the backside, pretty dark. This is not a hotel you should stay in for the views, because all you're going to see is most likely a wall.

However: Beds are comfortable, service is bearable and - most importantly - everything was nice and clean (yup, no bedbugs) and the rooms are quite enough to get a good night of sleep.

All in all, you get what you pay for. And in this case, it's enough.

I went to NYC for like 12 hours and scored this (with taxes) for around 2 hondo. It's an easy cab from LGA for about 40 bones. The hotel lobby is quite small and staff friendly. The room was also small and somewhat dated with a lame view but clean and very comfortable. The shower, as others have said, has great water pressure but it goes everywhere due to the small lip and odd shower curtain. I did like the bar soaps in the room. The hotel is around the block from a CVS and 2 blocks from Whole Foods. It's a very nice location between Chelsea, Koreatown and US. For the price, I would definitely stay here again. The hotel I had originally booked was one block away and nearly double what I paid through Priceline so I got a massage and also a haircut at my favorite barber (Mike at Manhattan Barber Shop)!

I think this hotel offers pretty good deal.  I stayed here one night for $119 (for 2, since we were party of 3, we paid 40 dollars extra, which seems to be the standard in all manhattan).  They let one of us (not me) check in after confirming with me even though I wasn't there yet.
Rooms were a bit small, but it was good enough considering it's Manhattan.  It is right next to Madison Square Park and Eataly, not a bad neighborhood.  Their service was adequate even though it wasn't perfect.  They also provide parking validation for nearby parking lot (10 bucks off per day).
Overall, if you can get a good deal (I would say under 140), this is a great place to stay.

I was actually very pleasantly surprised with this hotel, given that the price is relatively low, the location is great and it's NYC. The room was clean, easily big enough for two people and comfortable even with all of the stuff I had with me. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's very close to the subways and just a half block walk from Madison Square Park. No, it's not luxury or anything over the top but when I'm in NY, I'm not there to stay in my hotel all day. I'm even pretty picky, and it was perfect enough for me. Would stay here again.

I stayed here for 3 nights while in NYC for business. I agree with what other posters have said, it isn't the biggest, nicest or swankiest, but it is an excellent place to stay.

Customer Service: Everyone I encountered who worked here was outstanding. They couldn't have been more helpful with directions to landmarks, maps, etc. as well as keeping my bags for me before I checked in and after I checked out, tending to any room requests I had, etc. They also always greeted me with a smile and a friendly greeting. A few minutes after I was in my room the manager called just to check that I got in okay and that everything was to my liking. This was very much appreciated.

Room: The room was nice. A bit small, but it had a King Sized Bed, flat screen TV, plenty of space for clothes, and a desk. Just not much room to walk around. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had no trouble sleeping. My only complaint would be that the shower (there is no tub if baths are your thing) has a weird curtain that doesn't seem to keep all the water in. I felt as though there was the potential for a river to form in the bathroom, and I would have to use many towels to dry it. I was able to get it rigged where this didn't happen. The manager told me they were in the process of fixing this issue, which was appreciated.

Location: It is an excellent location right off 6th Avenue. It took me 10 minutes to get to Times Square and less than that to get to ESB/Macy's. I also was able to walk to my work site from here as well. In fact, through 2 whole days, I hadn't had to use any public transportation. So it is excellent if you are there to visit or work in the Chelsea/Manhattan area.

I would definitely recommend this location. You won't be let down by it.

I got in an email this message after I had luggage issue through checking it in with them:

"...In accepting the check the hotel shall not be liable for loss or damage of any nature whatsoever to said property either as a result of the ordinary or gross negligence of the hotel or its servants, agents or employees or water, fire, theft or any other cause..."

REWIND.  So it was a good location for our New York business trip.  Our company stayed here a lot, I think one person stayed for like a month.  When I went, we had three rooms for about a week.  Small rooms with good toiletries and terrible furnishings.  I would probably have given it a 3 until the last day when they didn't give us one of the luggage we had checked in and was catching a flight to London.

It was a forgivable mistake; it's the resolution that bothered me:

Needless to say, they didn't want to pay for the mistake by forwarding it to us promptly for our trip.  I do know it would not have been cheap (but not the most expensive thing either).  I believe in accountability and not creating a bigger inconvenience which I didn't get from their response.  Plus, they tried to blame me that I didn't leave a phone number.  Their luggage checkin system was a ticket system, which they clearly did not use well as the numbers of tickets we handed them clearly didn't match the number of luggage we got back.  Oddly enough a few days prior when my friend was digging around her purse to find her ticket for something we had them hold, we had mentioned that they needed a better checkin system by associating the luggage with a name, room, or anything other than the ticket alone just in case we lost the ticket.  We didn't because we knew it was in her huge a#$ purse (that we eventually found).

If I had left a number, what would they have even done with it?  It didn't really seem part of their ticket procedure at all.  Pretty much why we had suggested it a few days prior!  And it's not like they asked when we checked in our luggage again!

Then they said I didn't call back fast enough and that the emails weren't enough info.  They had the address of our London hotel, they had the London hotel number, and they knew we were going to be there for about a week.  I email back very promptly and answer all their questions, what couldn't they have asked through email?  When I finally called, I was pissed and asked "What info are you still looking for that you didn't think I could answer over the phone or have already, especially when I email most emails within 15 minutes and sometimes right after I just received the email and know you are at the computer still most likely?"--which they seemed to evade.

Then I just suggested that if they didn't want to be accountable and pay the prompt shipping charge, just say so because I couldn't think of them more ill than I do and just want something straightforward than all this back and forth that goes nowhere.

Then I gave them the option to overnight it domestically to LA in the narrow window had in LA after London and before Singapore.

They refuse to overnight.  Then, I said, two day it.  They said they'll think about.

Then I said, we're not even going to be in LA two-full days most likely and there's a narrow window.  If we didn't get our luggage, we would be without our stuff for about one month.

I was like WTF and was about to throw a gay fit.

But seriously, what did I expect from a place that said their policy was not to be liable for ordinary or gross negligence.  I filed that email on so many of my online record, I will never forget to not stay here if I had a choice.

I stayed here recently for a business trip for a few nights.  While the rooms are tiny, the bed was extremely comfy.  Easy check-in and check-out.  and no bed bugs!  I can't ask for anything more for a quick trip.

I must admit this place is very pretty in photos, but in person it's alright. You'd think since they provided you with this lovely photo of the front view of the hotel. You'd think you would walk into a nice huge lobby, but boy was I wrong. It was small and had a small snack bar next to the front desk.

We came here for one night only. I hate the fact that I didn't have any cell service, I'm assuming from all the big buildings in the area. The staff is indeed very friendly and professional.

The bed is amazing and so comfortable. The bathrooms only have a shower and not a bathtub. The towels are so cheap, it was so rough. The maids are quite loud in the morning and then hearing the doors slam pretty loud.

Overall I wouldn't mind staying here again, but the noise level needs to tone down a bit.

The loud slamming doors still haunt me.

My stay here was for three nights, and aside from one night in which I purposefully took a sleep aid to ensure some decent rest, I could not sleep a wink due to people coming in and out of the neighboring rooms at all hours of the days and nights, and their doors SLAMMING and creating the loudest, most startling, and obnoxious sound that kept me up.

It was so bad the first night, that I had to inform the front desk attendant in the morning, who apologized and offered to move me to another room on a different floor. Unfortunately, the same issue was encountered even after moving. How hard is it to properly open and close a door and not letting it slam loudly? Apparently, it's equivalent to rocket science.

I get it. It's a hotel in Chelsea. A majority of people staying here are young and partying late. But damn the slamming doors. How did the other reviewers evade this issue? It simply can't be chalked up to a severe sensitivity to sound, because I can sleep through other random noise.

The extra star is for the front desk attendant Christie's concerned attention and help in this matter. Otherwise, I can't say I'll be returning.

    How lucky was I?

This hidden gem is smack across the street from the foodie haven, EATALY. It has a great little restaurant attached where you are served buffet breakfast in the morning, including yogurt, fresh squeezed orange juice, paninis, cereals, freshly made coffee cakes, slices of ham and cheese, and nutella. The restaurant turns into a romantic Italian restaurant at night lit by candlelight.

There was free wifi in the room as well as in the lobby.

And the rooms....lovely! Small but sooooooo comfortable with a fabulous bed, large flat screen TV, new bathroom with great toiletries. And the best of all: it was quiet. Finding a hotel room in NYC that is totally quiet is quite a feat.

The front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Valet parking. All in all, a perfect little hotel find in NYC that I will definitely be going back to. I can totally recommend!!

Fantastic service. During my stay, some channels weren't coming through on the TV, and most channels were slow to appear. Just mentioned it to the front desk and when I came back that night, it was totally resolved.

Better example: the assistant general manager, Carlton Yee, personally got involved in helping me, even after I'd already checked out. I was pretty sure I'd lost my license in the room but couldn't find it anywhere. (I know, I know, ridiculous.) Calls to the front desk and housekeeping hadn't turned anything up....and my flight back to SFO was leaving that evening. The front desk gave me the correct guidance to file a report with the nearest NYPD precinct but what would then happen at the airport? TSA keeps it vague, with no set guidelines. I was on the phone with the airline and TSA but getting very little help.

Fortunately my company's in-house travel agency called the hotel and they responded. Within two hours they'd not only made the day by finding my license, but they also delivered it the 10 blocks to my building! Tremendous. Otherwise my next couple weeks would've been consumed by the effects of getting a new license and losing the old one.

The Wyndham is a nice hotel with a great location that serves as a perfect launching point for a lot of great neighborhoods. It is compact, as many hotels are in NYC. But there are great touches and the room was tidy and comfortable. The staff downstairs were just the right amount of friendly, smiling without being overbearing. I like that the desk was always staffed, day or night and that housekeeping only woke me up once! There are also great restaurants just literally a few feet away.

The service was incredible and unexpected for the price (http://priceline.com).  I've stayed at 4 star hotels and upscale boutique hotels in NYC but the Wyndham had amazing service for it's price!

The front desk crew was very friendly and helpful, the room was quiet, large enough to walk around in with a comfortable bed, free WIFI and free water in the room.

But the clincher for me was...On my last day, I held my bags at the desk and went to lunch.  When I returned, the woman who brought me my bags walked with me to 6th ave and hailed a cab for me to JFK.  This was WAY beyond the service level I expected.

Lots of food in the area.  Checkout the newest destination shopping - the Limelight Marketplace at 6th & 20th (a renovated church) and great coffee at 9th St Coffee in the Chelsea Marketplace on 9th.

    I'd stay again.

Needed a relatively cheap room for a weekend trip to Manhattan in May.  Found the Wyndham via Kayak for an extremely reasonable price ($150 plus tax for two double beds).  Located in a great area.

The beds! The beds were so comfortable.  Sure, the room is small, but that's most hotels in Manhattan.

The lobby staff we dealt with on Friday night when we arrived was super helpful.  The staff we encountered on Sunday afternoon when we left was not so helpful.  My friend and I were running super late for our flight and weren't able to check in on our Blackberrys.  We asked the front desk if we could use their computer to check in.  She said she would help us, but scowled the ENTIRE time.  If she didn't want to help us, she should have just said so.

Tried to come back and stay here again at the end of September, but the rates were much steeper ($300 a night), so wound up staying elsewhere.  But would definitely come back here again if I could get another deal.

I stayed at the Wyndham Garden Chelsea for the better part of 6 months.  The service and accommodations were excellent.  The staff was always friendly, professional, and courteous.  They were attentive to my every request, both business and personal.
