The Premier Hotel

New, smaller place that calls itself a luxury hotel, again on 44th Street near Times Square ( since I discovered a whole flock of hotels there, decided to do a bunch of them tonight).

Let us see what Yelp reviews call it...just how luxurious for instance

Surprised to see so few reviews, all excellent though...

Bothers me there are not more recent reviews

Excellent luxury hotel in the heart of NYC. Rooms were great size for NYC standards and was no too pricey! Will definitely stay again. Walking distance to Times Square!

I would LOVE to stay in this hotel again! We were completely pleased with everything, and were so happy it worked out for us to stay here.

I had made reservations for marathon weekend via Priceline in May, and resisted Midtown and the Times Square neighborhoods because that is my least favorite NYC experience to have, but I was forced to broaden my search on Priceline due to the room demands of the weekend. I was thrilled to get a room for less than $200 per night by the time my offer was accepted, so I resigned myself to the Times Square neighborhood. It started winning me over the second we arrived in NYC.

First, we could NOT get a cab at around 9 p.m. at Laguardia, so we ended up taking the AirPorter bus, which drops off at stops only in Midtown. We only had to walk around 8 or 9 blocks with our luggage to find the hotel. My Priceline offer had originally been accepted by the Millennium Broadway Hotel on 44th, and when we arrived to check in, the very nice desk clerk told us that because we had reserved through Priceline and had expressed preferences for our room that the MB hotel hadn't been able to offer, we had been upgraded to the "luxury tower." (He then said this is why we should not use Priceline, which wasn't the moral WE took of this story.) Our upgrade was at the Premier Hotel, which is connected to the MB via a theater lobby.

When we arrived in the lobby of the Premier, I thought we had mistakenly entered a private apartment building, it was so beautifully understated. The clerks were seated behind light wood desks that matched the minimalist decor of the lobby. We were expediently checked in and told about the complimentary continental breakfast in the mornings and gratis happy hour for guests each evening (sadly, we weren't able to take advantage of this latter perk).

When we checked into our room, we were thrilled. It wasn't huge, but it was light, and open and bigger than any other NYC hotel room we had previously stayed in. The entire wall on 44th street was floor-to-ceiling windows, with heavy drapes (to block the all-night lights from Times Square signage). The bathroom was GREAT, with a full tub (great for this marathoner!) and a stand-alone shower, an underlit, spacious countertop and plenty of towels and complimentary supplies.

The breakfast was very tasty, though not extensive. The croissants were very, very good, and the coffee was great.

One thing that really won me over to this neighborhood, once I had been won over by the Premier itself, is that restaurants stay open late for the theater crowds. We didn't check in to the hotel until 9:30 or 10 p.m., but we just tripped across the street to the Long Room for a late-night bite that was delicious! (In some other Manhattan neighborhoods, it can be harder to find kitchens serving late.) You can also walk to so many popular destinations from here, to MoMA, the Flat Iron neighborhood and the New York Public Library, as well as getting easy access to the subway and tons of cabs.

We found all of the staff to be professional and friendly, from the morning breakfast-room attendants, to the desk clerks and the doorman, who stored our luggage for us on the last day and suggested a car service to us instead of a cab for our return trip to the airport.

I will definitely keep this wonderful hotel on our list of NYC places to stay. It was just perfect!

This is a good hotel if you are on business or you prefer the style of the W to the style of the Luxor.

things that are nice about the Premier:
    1. modern design and comfortable beds and couches
    2. free wi-fi
    3. free breakfast
    4. a lack of children and large tourist families
    5. separate bath tub and shower
    6. good location if you need to be by time square which the Spouse does for work.

The Spouse has booked here twice, the first time she was given a room with separate sitting room, the second time she asked to book the same exact room and they gave us a tiny room half the size but for the same price.

It is still a four star because when we talked to the concierge about the difference, he moved us to a larger room in the older part of the Millennium but which had an amazing view of the Chrysler building.

While the room at the Millennium was bigger and had a nice view, the Spouse plans to stay at the Premier again and make sure she gets the right room.

4.5 stars for a great room, superb service, and amazing location in the Theater District.  Very artsy room, with nice ammenities.  In-room safe was a big plus.

Shower was separate from the nice bathtub, but was good for only one person at a time, unless you're stick people.
