Saturday Mob Scene in Union Square

The last time I was down at the Union Square Greenmarket, it was crowded and noisy..

Today was even worse.

Although a grey day, it was mild, and people from all over the world seemed to be there, but, of course, especially  A LOT of young and somewhat trendy looking New Yorkers

That "Hare Krishna" music and bells and drums was the first thing I heard when I got up from the subway station..

This video is taking forever to upload...I am beginning to suspect something is wrong here...I have to to go on and post more photos I took in Union Square.

Well, if that video ever uploads, you can see how difficult it was for me to go twenty feet in this crowd...

Looks like the gourd and squash harvest around NYC was particularly bountiful this year...

Informational stands were there to help people get through all this craziness...

People were very curious about the locally produced wine..

In fact, this woman looks pretty skeptical about the wine...

And here, a filmmaker named Brendan was looking to interview people about advice they would give to a young couple just about to get married (some relatives of his). I found this out because he picked me out to ask and since my relationships have been debacles, I did not feel like I could help him out much. Apparently, Brendan has not had all that much luck himself, that's why he is making the movie ( on Facebook, I have one friend in California who is very opinionated about everything, but refuses to say anything bad about his ex. Other people feel called upon to characterize their former spouses and partners though...I agree that recriminations, while tempting, are better off avoided. )

My best friend from high school ended up in California getting married and divorced twice (with three children from all this)...but I noticed that after his first wife's second husband died, a man
named Utah Phillips, and she remarried, he went to her new wedding. He is pretty laid back about everything as I guess a lot of people are out there in Nevada City.

I am going to give this damn video another ten minutes and if it has not finished uploading I am going to run this posting without it...this has already tied things up too much this evening.

In fact, I am going to make that five minutes now,...this is ridiculous. Some technical glitch that I certainly do not know how to deal with. OK, guess we will have to have this page without the video which I will try to post again later.

I might just add here that the Union Square greenmarket is considered one of the most successful in the City, and that Union Square is a real magnet for people from all over these days. That's why I would like to do some postings on some local places around there...
