I think the concept of this chain is extremely cute. Each pie has a face that has a letter to help you distinguish what type of pie it is (ex: "b" for blueberry). Come on, you gotta admit that's cute!

A pretty decent selection, I must say. And the pies that I've tried (curry vegetarian and blueberry) are pretty damn good.

The cost racks up though. Don't let those pies fool ya!

...maybe it's a bad idea that I live near one now...

    PRO:
    - STEAK MEAT PIE - get it with THE STACK [stack consists of mash potatoes, peas and gravy] - mmm so good. however the peas were a little mushy - like the types you find at school lunches.

    THE OKAY:
    - CHICKEN AND MUSHROOM PIE - nothing particularly amazing about this. I had high expectations from this because everyone seemed to be wowed by this on yelp but it was only ehh... standard Pie. It was overrated.

    CONS:
    - the place is kind of small.
    - EXPENSIVE: 2 PIES FOR $12 something. Basically $6 something for a pie.

Service was decent. I went in and asked about THE STACK and they showed me what it looked it like.

Made my 1st trip to Pie Face on Friday. Got the minced meat pie - and proceeded to wolf it down in less than 10 minutes. For a slow eater like me, that means lightning fast!

It was so good that I was kicking myself for only getting one. And then kept thinking about how good it was all day. Wound up getting another one a few days later at a different location*. The girl who helped me at this Murray Hill/Kips Bay location was very nice & friendly, too. I will definitely be back to try out more of the yummy pie crusty goodness.

    Note:
    - *Not all Pie Face locations have the same prices. The 1st one I went to (Murray Hill/Kips Bay) cost me about $5+change (not bad) and the one on W39th/Broadway cost about $6-7! (not good! wtf?!)
    - When you order, they ask if you want it "stacked" - this means if you want mashed potatoes, gravy, peas. I only opted no because I knew it'd put me to sleep from food coma and I didn't want to be slumped over at my desk at work.
    - Main door is 1 of those automatic ones, which they put a note on the door to alert you of.

I was here twice, 9/6/13 and 9/7/13. It was past midnight, I was starving and looking for a desserts shop to satisfy my sweet tooth (don't judge me, okay?!).

Pie Face is pretty easy to find. It's just past all the bars on 3rd. I ordered two desserts my first time there, and two pies my second time. They're small, but definitely quite filling. The lemon and espresso little cakes (desserts) go very well together, but on their own are good too. My personal favorite was the espresso/chocolate cake. The pies aren't very memorable (I think I got a berry and a chocolate one). Both times it came out to around $7, I think.

The people working there after midnight though, they are SO sweet and so helpful. They seem to love what they do. I don't remember the name of the guy who helped me, but he was adorable and really enthusiastic about all the desserts. He was also really good about dealing with all the super-wasted people that would come in.

Ordered the apple and pumpkin pie.  They were okay.  Their pies are cute but pricey.

    Friendly staff and clean establishment.

Stumbled into pie face on accident late on a friday night. The bf was trying to go to a cheesteak spot that use to be next door. Once we saw that the place was no longer there we hesitantly went into pie face to satisfy our tipsy hunger. We ordered 4 pies on the recommendation of the employees. Four pies cost a little over $20. what. the. french. these pies better be life changing for the price.

Once we got home we got ready to dig in. And let me tell you after biting into these I didn't mind how much they cost. They were all so delicious. All the flavors were very different but all were soooo goood. We couldn't even decide which one we liked best. I've been to tuck shop on a few occasions but it doesn't even come close to comparing to pie face. Will frequent this place more often. If the prices were a little lower than I would be frequenting this place much much more often. But hey, food orgasms don't come cheap sometimes.

Anytime I think about each bite costing more than $1, I have trouble enjoying the product unless I'm three star dining. Pie Face falls directly into this category with three bite pies that cost over $3. They're good pies, that unfortunately don't justify the price.

Still, when I'm staying in the Murr Hill, and it's late, and Sarge's burnt themselves down so I can't order cheesecake, and I don't feel like paying 2nd Ave my first born for a knish, I'll roll on down to Pie Face... which we did... and they had nothing.

No chocolate, no lime, one lemon left. Thanks a lot, that's everything I wanted.

I was in New Zealand and Australia where people eat meat pies like we eat pizza..so I think I know a good meat pie when I see one.

Overall, this place does a nice job.  Philly cheese steak pie was very good.  Good service. For around $8 you get 3 mini meat pies, value is not so great, they should make it 4 for $8...as they are kinda small.

Do no order a chocolate chip cookie here...they are overpriced and not that good.  I ate half and tossed it...I think Subway or Insomnia has a better cookie for a lot less money. They need to go to Levain and do some reverse engineering if they want to charge $3.50 for a cookie. Plus, the pies are really good, so having a substandard cookie detracts from the brand. For the love of G-d, make an insane mini chocolate chip cookie pie for $3.50!

They really should hire me to do consulting. That would look amazing on my fat ass resume.

Pros: The pies are really quite good. I could probably eat the pumpkin ones all day

Cons: If I ate those pumpkin pies all day I'd go broke because they are a tad bit over priced.

While the staff is friendly I recommend keeping a close eye on the pies they give in to go orders because I've often come home only to realize my order was messed up.

IF YOU'RE GONNA GET IT, GET IT STACKED! I ordered a stacked mini hicken and mushroom savory pie as an afternoon snack and it was delicious but pricey. For the appetite I have, I need to be prepared to spend $20 to leave with a belly that's satiated. I will be back to try the other pies... just not as a complete meal.

    Two words: The Stack!

Yep, pick a pie and get it stacked, you will not regret it.

I heard the chicken mushroom is the most popular so I tried it and must say its tasty. I did try the philly cheesesteak one as well and that is also yummy.

I will be back to attack The Stack when the next craving hits.

The sweet pies are good. Great? No way.

The savory pies are just heartburn in a flaky crust.

Just because you put something mediocre in a cute package doesn't make it taste better.

Wish I could give it 3.5 stars.

This place leans slightly more towards style than substance. Bright colored interior, adorable little faces drawn on the pies, cute packaging. Different sizes of pies so you can choose according to your appetite.

The actual pies are good, but not great. I've had the cherry and blueberry mini pies. The cherry was a bit too tart for my taste. The blueberry was better, but a bit "jam-my" for me. I like to have a little more texture in my pie filling.  I also had a mince beef pie, which had an interesting combination of ingredients, but I found it to be too heavy on the spices.

The people that work behind the counter are super nice and friendly. Convenient place to pick up a snack or light meal.
