Great Neck, NYThis is the best lunch spot in stuy town. You cant go wrong with the falafels here. Everything is fresh. The tahini is just right. Not too watery, not too heavy. Ask for extra hot sauce because its addicting.
Service is good. I got my water filled 5 times while I was here. The hot sauce is hot after all! -

This place might be a little pricey for falafels compared to the more well known Mamoun's but the falafels are fantastic and huge to boot.
I've only ordered delivery here and they are usually on time. The falafels are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are well seasoned. Four huge falafels come in a sandwich. At first thought, you might be like me and think 4 to be insufficient in portion. You would be wrong. Like I said, these are huge falafels and one sandwich is enough to feed even a large man such as myself. I made the mistake of ordering extra falafels last time. They were still good later but the sandwich was more than enough for one meal.
A falafel sandwich is $7. Other items are around $10-15. A little high in price for what it is but fortunately for Murray's, there aren't many good falafel places around this area. Also I believe this place is kosher so that may explain some of the pricing as well. -

This has to be one of the best falafels I've ever had in my life. They must have put some crack in here for sure or something. I have no idea how the actual falafel is so tasty, crispy on the outside, and and soft on the inside! The flavoring of the falafel is a combination of parsley, chickpea, and garlic - super yummy!
Murray's is a small, hole-in-the-wall type of place, and I was super hungry and just wanted a snack so my friend recommended this to me. When I was waiting in line to order, the very nice staff lady gave me a free falafel to try, and I was sold right away. I knew I was going to order the falafel pita sandwich (first thing on the menu).
It came out after about 5-7 minutes, and it's a hugeeee portion! You can choose either regular pita or whole wheat pita (I chose whole wheat of course), and it comes with all the fixins: cucumbers, radishes, lettuce, 6 falafel balls, and on the side, you'll get hummus and this spicy green sauce which I LOVED.
I just wanted a snack because I was going to dinner a few hours later, so you can easily split this with someone else. I only ate half. I only gave this 4 stars and not 5 because I felt like it was a BIT pricey ($7) and I think this could have been $1-2 cheaper in my honest opinion. Regardless, I would keep coming back because it's just that darn good! -

Yonkers, NYThe Falafel is really good. Excellent service as soon as you walk in they great you with a fresh warm falafel..... it's a trap! Once you bite in you're hooked :) the quinoa and vegetables is also quite amazing. -

Manhattan, NYMurray's is the best Middle Eastern food in NYC. Period. The falafel and shawarma are amazing and the service is spectacular. Also, how great is it to support a local small business rather than a big chain? It's great.
I try to go to Murray's every chance I get in the neighborhood. -

Manhattan, NYBest falafel in the neighborhood. Crispy outside and tender inside. Deep chickpea and parsley flavor.
Add these to the amazingly soft pita, fresh and crunchy pickled vegetables, tahini, and you'll smile the rest of the day.
Try the spinach or mushroom bourekas. These are delicious and very flakey.
I'm also a fan of the baba ganoush and often add it to my falafel sandwich. -

For the 100th review of Murray's Im going to say that my fellow yelpers have got this pegged about right. Murray has mastered the art of the fried falafel ball. The balls are big voluptuous and taste good in my mouth dry or with tahini sauce. They are probably the best falafel balls I have had in the city and my resume of balls is bigger than Lindsay Lohan. I'd even say the falafel is better than Taim which generates a tremendous amount of love around here.
The proprietor Murray is one of a kind. There was a beautiful family sitting next to us and he brought over a teddy bear for their child to play with. While we were waiting for our meal he brought the fiancee and I a falafel each to munch on. Judging based on that sample, anticipation for my Sunday morning lunch increased exponentially.
The fiance got the schwarma entree which clocked in at over $15, a sizable premium compared to its competitors. My hummus and falafel apps were priced more in-line with the market. The food packed quantity, flavor and love and tasted like these recipes were handed down for generations.
Overall a great treat and better quality falafel than a chickpea or a street corner falafel stand, it is worth it if you are willing to pay up. -

Astoria, NYI don't know if this place is the best falafel in NYC (as it was rated), but it was damn good. The babaganoush was excellent and the small was more than enough.

Manhattan, NYPros: falafel with crusty outside! Generous portion
Cons: Nothing really? :)
So, I am VERY content with my meal I had from Murray's but I am NOT giving him a 5 star until I try Taim Falafel. XD
Anyways, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE their falafels!!!!!!!! It's crusty outside, so when you bite into that golden crust, you get that crunch effects from the crust and it really balances out the softy inside! :D Thumbs up!
I had the followings;
- Falafel platter: it had 6 falafels with 3 different sides!!! 6 falafels!!!! Hurray!!! The portion is very generous that I could NOT finish all of the falafels. XD Like I said, the falafels are to die for... They do it the right way, for sure.
- Lamb Shwarma on tray: it came with lamb shwarmas with fries on the side. LOVED IT! The lamb bits definitely had the lamb-ey flavor and super tender! I also LOVED the fries. If ur looking for french fries type of fries, ur at the wrong place. Those are kinda soggy and slightly thicker than french style, which is JUST the way I WANT! :)
I cannot wait to try their combo platter next time! :) And when I check out Taim, I will definitely update my review to find out who wins the falafel war!!!! -

London, UKAbsolutely delicious! Giant falafels with lahshings of tahini - as good as it gets. THe falafel sandwich on wholewheat pita is the ultimate. Lovely fresh salad inside and a free falafel while you wait! One sandwich here is like 1.5 dinners - go hungry! Falafels are hot, tasty and melt in the mouth - great flavour. -

A cozy little joint that makes a mean shwarma.
My husband and I grabbed take-out from Murray's, and I still have some tasty leftovers that I plan on enjoying for breakfast! The entree is served with a small salad and a side dish, and I can guarantee you that it is more than enough.
Plus, Murray is a super nice guy who was so polite as to overlook my wine-stained teeth craving a good falafel. -

Manhattan, NYThey gave me a fresh, hot falafel as soon as I walked in the door. I hadn't even ordered anything yet.
Nice people. Good food. Great value. -

New York, NYCame here for lunch New Year's day because my boyfriend always raves about it. Got the falafel sandwich-- it was good, cheap and filled with falafel, tomato, cucumber, red cabbage and stuffed into fresh pita. They give tahini on the side so you can add as much as you want, which I appreciated. Sandwich was only about $6.45 and filled me almost all day long.
Tip: skip the soup (we got to try green pea and lentil and both were absolutely tasteless). -

this was my first ever falafel sandwich (believe it or not). obviously, that makes me a falafel noob, so i'm not gonna pretend like i know anything about what makes an excellent falafel.
what i do know? my chicken shwarma was fantastic! the meat and veggie combo in a pita was both flavorful and juicy. 6 crisply deep-fried falafel balls scattered inside the pita rounded out the taste. and murray's special green sauce added a spicy kick and depth of flavor that brought tingles of joy to my taste buds.
at around $9, these oversized pita sandwiches will leave you stuffed and possibly with enough leftovers for a late-night snack or even a second meal.
and to top it all off, the owners and staff are the sweetest and nicest people. really makes you feel like you're part of a small neighborhood community, and not in new york city. -

Manhattan, NYForget Maoz. This is one of the best falafel joints in the city. Amazing. It's casual and kosher and quiet. It's the place that I go when I want some quiet time to eat and read away from work and my family. -
Review from Ellen S.
Manhattan, NYOne of the best falafels I ever had! Fresh, light and fluffy, it practically melts in your mouth. The sandwich comes in a pita pocket filled with all fresh stuffings (red cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, redishes). None of that pickled marinated stuff. For a special treat, try the mango juice. -

Usually falafel's tend to have little flavor and way too much filler than actual chick pea...but not so here.
Murray is a sweetheart and so is his staff. The restaurant is very clean too!
Murray's falafel was crispy on the outside with a great texture on the inside. There was just a nice balance of spices, cilantro and parsley mixed in and you can actually see small chick pea pieces in the falafel ball. Amazing!
Order the shwarma as well as the combination platter! The combo comes with 4 hot falafels, chop't salad, hummus, eggplant in a yummy tomato sauce and a smokey babaganoush. Their homemade hot sauce kicks ass and so does their tahini sauce.
Also another bonus is that they offer 4-5 different diet soda options which is rare!
