Yelp likes this place a lot, though I notice there are a fair number of sour apples too

I stopped by this past week because we had a deal from Living Social.
The deal was x amount for for x price , don't recall the amount because we got more than the deal offered.
We started with a pitcher of White Sangria , this was really good.
On the food we tried the Yuca fries , really good comes with 3 dipping sauces no clue what they were but two of them were delicious the last one tasted like marinara & this didn't go too well with the Yuca.
Next we were sucked into trying the Lobster & Shrimp Guacamole .. I say sucked in simply because so many reviews mention how great it is , now am not going to say that it was bad because it wasn't it was pretty good but maybe I expected more? The guacamole had a great taste to it but not enough Lobster or Shrimp.
Last we tried the Steak Tacos .. Houston we have a winner !!! Man these were amazing really great flavor.
The place is small , cozy dim lighting , bar area & great beer wall .. I would love to try all one day lol.
Friendly service , prices for the most part are moderate even with out a deal.
My only real complaint is that the food came out very quickly .. Am not a fan of this just because it makes me feel like am being rushed even tho we certainly took our time.
This place was a great find , I wouldn't mind returning.

If you're looking for place to grab a quick drink this place will do!  They have TONS of international beers to choose from (although 85% of them are bottled), a decent selection of wine and maybe a handful of cocktails. Service is attentive and prices are very reasonable. Didn't have a chance to taste the tapas, they seemed to decent enough, but judging by the prices, I wouldn't really give them that much thought.

This tapas style restaurant was sultry, relaxing, sensual and had delicious food and drinks.

We had the steak tacos, the chicken quesadillas, fish tacos, and some other items and it was delicious. The portions are smaller because of the tapas style but all really tasty and fresh. The service was amazing and laid back and very nice. They are knowledgeable about their beer list. Had a Westmalle Trippel Ale.

Would definitely go back if in NYC again.

Lobster guacamole & steak skewers are so awesome! I would come here and get this again. Guacamole was so good with the plantain chips, I think it tasted better than other spanish restaurants that makes guacamole. Steak skewers were very flavorful and tender.  I usually don't order steak because most the time it's overcooked. But this was cooked to perfection. Loved it! Will definitely come back here for more

I love lomo saltado and hunt down every single restaurant that has it. La Cerveceria fell under my radar and I was not disappointed. We got a couple of other entrees but I can't really remember. I guess this means next time I come back, I will def be getting the lomo saltado.

Came here on a date on a Friday summer night.  We were seated at the bar until a table became available outside (it was a nice breezy night to eat al fresco so we took advantage of it).  The hostess was sweet and the waitress and waiter were very nice.  They recommended to drink a few glasses of prosecco wine while we waited for our table.  Really cool vibe and people.  The lobster guac was delicious and the yuka fries --just wow!
The steak tacos were delicious and they were satisfying.  I would def return.

The Bloody Mary was actually very good, the tomato juice was very fresh.

Beware the Green Eggs & Ham! They were supposed to come with pesto and spinach. There was no pesto to speak of and the the spinach was only represented in the color of the eggs (green). They were fairly tasteless... The manager noticed, however, that we were struggling with the food and promptly allowed us to order another dish. We got the Tacu Tacu instead which was much better, but certainly not amazing. Overall, I'd say the food is pretty mediocre. Come with a group of friends with more emphasis on getting drinks than eating food.

If I had to name this review, I would call it: three girls, a guy and a bad brunch experience.

So my friend calls to make a reservation and the host says, the only available times are 11am or 3pm. We take the 11am and leave around 1pm. The restaurant was empty the entire time. There was little need to make a reservation, so I'm not sure why they only had two time slots for us.

Two of us ordered the green eggs and ham which are supposed to be eggs with pesto and ham. Neither of us could taste the pesto flavor (or any flavor for that matter) so we asked for a side of pesto. The waitress said they don't "do sides of pesto" and instead brought out an array of flavored mayo. We concluded that the restaurant doesn't really have pesto and probably uses some type of packaged mix instead.

The manager came out and checked up on us and when we didn't seem ecstatic about our dishes, he offered to take it back and give us something else. We took his recommendation and ordered the tacao tacao which was good but not worth going back for. Also keep in mind this took such a long time that my other two friends were already done with their food.

I would have given this place two stars based on what I ordered the first time. However, the manager was polite, attentive and helpful so I think that deserves an extra star for service.

No wait on an early Saturday evening. No issues using the living social deal. We ordered 4 items, the first 3 came out rapidly and our 4th took too long - not sure what happened here but it did disrupt the flow of dinner.

Lobster guac - excellent, and they were not stingy with the lobster bits.
Ceviche - the low point of the meal - not the best - a little too acidic.
Quesadilla - worth the wait - every bite was perfectly cooked with an even layer or excellent filling.
Arugula salad - we would come back just for this.

This place deserves an update.  After my initial visit, I was contacted by the owner and invited to try the restaurant again. This was a really cool move - besides food (which, lets face it, is a big portion of what puts smiles on our faces and 5 stars on our reviews), service is very important as well. We understand that restaurants may sometimes miss the mark, but it's refreshing when owners take extra efforts to make sure they get the customer service experience right.

We had the french toast, which is probably my favorite thing on the menu. It's huge, fluffy, drizzled in all types of goodness and has pieces of strawberry and banana within each half. The coffee is also really good here. Thank you, La Cerveceria, for extending an invite to come back! Kudos to you.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would.

Came here for brunch on a living social deal for 4 entrees, 4 drinks, and 2 desserts after seeing that it received 4 stars on yelp (HOW???????). After we sat down, the waiter took my phone about 3 times just to write down that small string of numbers to locate my deal...red flag #1.

It then took about 20 minutes for anyone to even come by to take our order, even though the back of the restaurant was pretty empty. After taking the order, it took about another 40 minutes to get our food. After an hour of sitting at our table, our table was still empty and we were VERY hungry. We even asked numerous people to check on our food, and one waiter had the audacity to hold up a ticket to us and say "see this ticket? it's yours and it's next." like it was rude for us to even ask.

The food portions are teeny...you will not be full from one entree so never buy into those deals for this restaurant. Every item they have on their menu, you could probably also make at home yourselves...

When it came to the dessert, we asked for a dessert menu (we actually asked for it during our meal so that we wouldn't have to waste time waiting another 20 minutes)...the waiter went away for 10 minutes and came back to say, "oh i'm sorry, we only have one dessert today, it's the panna cotta." HOW DID HE NOT KNOW THIS TO BEGIN WITH????????

The host also really sucks...does not know what he is doing (can't even do a simple thing as seat people efficiently), and is obviously not a good problem solver with disgruntled guests.

    Ugh.

Stumbled upon this place when my friend and I got out of the movie theater and wanted a quick delicious snack.
I love the place, but honestly the music wsa SOOO FREAKING LOOUDDD.
Other than that I loved the drink options they've had (although I didn't drink anything that night) and the few tapas we've shared including the potatoes and the fish tacos were super fresh and delicious!
    Would probably be back!

Really good tapas options. Loved the guacamole, but I didn't like the chicken quesadilla much.

This place has a ton of beer, but not much wine. Looks like the place next door is a tapas+wine bar, and this place is a tapas+beer bar.

They don't seem that packed today, yet the service sucked, we had incomplete orders and wrong orders put in. We waited far too long for everything. I've come here many times before and never experienced such horrible service. Sullied my impression...

That was my initial check-in and tip from this particular visit.  This is the full review of the same visit:

This place is pretty solid. Great 2nd ave street seating, tasty tapas and friendly service. Also, unlike many tapas places, the portions are actually pretty generous for several of the tapas.

That being said -- I'm not sure it was too "memorable" -- but maybe that's just because I don't have too much love for 2nd ave. Or maybe because I think a place named after beer should probably have more than two beers on tap. Still, I'll probably return once or twice as long as I live in the neighborhood.

I had mixed feeling about going here for dinner because of the bad reviews, but I have to say this place was awesome!! We were seated right away. We ordred 3 plates to share. The Lobster Guacamole was delicious! The 2nd order was the nachoes with chicken, mushrooms and cheese which was also yummy, and last was the skirt steak cooked to perfection!!! My only complaint is we ordered a pitcher of sangria that seemed watered down, 2 glasses for each of us 3 girls and no buzz at all. I think the bar tender heard me mention that and sent over a and pitcher for free. I thought that was very nice of him. The waiters were great. I would go back there again sometime soon.
