Chicago, ILThere's a lot of bad reviews here, but ya gotta go for the happy hour deals!!! TGI's is not the ideal spot to eat in NYC, but if you're tired and hot and need a drink and a bite to eat, it's reliable.
We enjoyed it. Beats the little guys on the corner with the shish kebobs and pretzels! -

Hollywood, FLWhile in New York, I had plenty of homework and not much time to eat, so visiting a Friday's was more than convenient...
That perception changed when I met Julio. Julio apparently doesn't really like his job or simply has "one of those faces". From the moment I sat down at his bar, Julio seemed to have been sucking on a sour patch. I politely ignored his sour facial expressions and asked for a BFM (Best Friday Margarita), which, BTW, should be ALL TOP SHELF. As Julio was preparing and I was anxiously awaiting my BFM, I noticed the Patron bottle was a little on the long and lean side. Did I dare say something? Hell yes I said something! Julio's response was very simple: "Ohhhh... this is the BFM" (puzzled face as he looks at menu). I debated that the menu clearly states ALL liquor involved in this concoction should be top shelf and that did not look like Patron he poured. He nodded and instead of giving me the correct Margarita, he proceeded to comping the BFM and charging me for a house kind.
Talk about laziness plus no consideration for inventory... Everyday must really be Friday for him. -

I don't eat here. I drink. I would like to S/O all the bartenders I've drank from over the years: Keep it up! It is LIVE sitting at the bar during happy hour especially on Thursday and Friday. There is a DJ spinnin on Thursday afternoons. The Jukebox is spinnin any other times and they have good tune. The people are mostly very lively. Never got a bad vibe from here. Met some "interesting individuals" here during my time that I'm still friends with. I try to come by on Thursday or Friday 2 -3 times a month. In the summer however, I try to ramp it up, lol.
Food, my friend eats here. He likes it. I eat the Buffalo Wings with a side of bbq. DEEEEELISH. It helps to sober you up from from those awfully strong drinks, lol -

Honolulu, HIYeah follow the reviews and avoid this place. This is NOT where you want to eat. Got sat down eventually and didn't see anybody else for about 10 mins. Drinks took another 10 mins to get and then got all the food at the same time, so much for appetizers. Food wasn't bad just took forever, not the cleanest restaurant and the bathroom could have used some attention. There are better chains if you feel the need to go to when your in NYC. -

Jersey City, NYThe thing I love about New York City is its diversity. I've read how you can go out to dinner every night for fifty years and never come to the same restaurant ever. Pretty cool, right?
Thats why I take great pleasure when it comes to unearthing "hidden treasures", as it were. And in this case, its a little gem called TGI Fridays. I am quite sure that not too many people have heard of this place. The fact that it only has one review on Yelp only verifies how unknown this restaurant really is.
The hostess greeted our group with so much warmth and enthusiasm, it was quite obvious that she wasn't from New York. Uh huh, she was from New Jersey, of course. She promptly gave us a table near some excitable tourists, and isn't that what every New Yorker wants - to be seen near tourists at little restaurants like TGI Fridays?
Also, the day we came was St. Patrick's Day so we were in our best green garb and wanted to drink in celebration. So our waitress recommended a most Irish drink that we had never heard of called a Long Island Iced Tea. My word, can that Irish bartender, Tyrone, make a mean LI Iced Tea! He even made another drink we had never heard of called a Mudslide. You know, the more creative the drinks are, the more known that this TGI Fridays will become.
Our food was quite remarkable. Dare I say it: "Jean-Georges" remarkable? I won't go that far but it was pretty close. I mean, can my boy Jean-Georges come up with something so original as potato skins? Can he come up with a genius dish like nachos covered with cheese? Methinks not.
So listen, you cynical New Yorkers, don't goto Bouley Restaurant. Avoid Per Se, Stanton Social and Gramercy Tavern because those aren't "New Yorky" enough. If you want to take a chance on authentic NY cuisine, then by all means come to TGI Fridays. You won't regret it!
I tried to make this as Useful and Cool as possible. Notice I didn't say Funny, because this is probably my most serious review.

San Mateo, CAThis was, quite frankly, bizarre.
The place was, well, Fridays. Good drinks, good food, went with a good friend, had a good time.
The drawback here is that we were sitting in the bar, and the music on
the speakers was so ridiculously damn loud, my friend and I had to
shout. And, when I asked the waiter if they could, ya know...maybe turn
it down a little, he said No. He said he had already asked his
managers if they could turn it down, because he was having a
tough time talking to customers....and they said no to him, too.
So...instead of having another drink, which we wanted to do, we
left. It was really very nice leaving the restaurant to the relative peace
and quiet of Lexington Avenue (serious....but...amazingly, true!!).
WTF is up with that? -

New York, NYI'm a big believer in the... When in New York... avoid chain restaurants.
I confess that being a hungry college student and having seen the TGI Friday's coupon for "buy one entree, get one free," I was excited. My roomie and I went out to dinner for burgers. We were seated near the bar, and the bartender took our table. I don't think our bartender could have been more grumpy about having to take our table. Drinks and plates were slammed down in front of us and he didn't stay at the table long enough for us to request anything (Thus began a self-charted adventure around the area to find a ketchup bottle that wasn't empty). Also, I wasn't a fan of how my sierra mist was $3.15... I think that tops the most expensive fountain soda I've ever gotten... at a chain restaurant at least... I think?
I have to still give this rating three stars however because while my burger wasn't anything to get excited over, who really expects that from a chain? Also, they accepted the coupon we gave them without any problem. Very cool. -

NY, NYAfter being pounded with commercials night and day stating that they have a 3 course special for $12.99, my friend and I decided we would navigate the muddy waters of a local food chain in the city . We were greeted by a friendly server who promptly seated us upstairs. As soon as our order was taken, we were informed that this deal is being offered at a corporate location, and this was only a franchise. She added that there was another location on 50th St. & B'way, and we could try there. So we did.
Repeat same, only add the "other" locations seem to be in New Jersey, Connecticut, or possibly the Southwest. At this point, these hungry (and broke) mofas decided to just go for it. The regular lunch special was $10.99 (we realized $2 cheaper!), and since it was 5 minutes to 4:00pm, and they said they'd let us get the deal, we decided to go for it! Whoa.Is.Me.
We ordered the "Black Angus Sirloin" Japanese Hibachi. This consisted of 2 skewers of meat (each with 3-9 slices of randomly cut meat). I say this because whenever you order the same as a friend, you can't help compare, and in my case for whatever reason, I was given the "baby" portion, and she the "Man-handler"! The meat was interspersed with small red onion slices, red peppers and or tomatoes (they were something red).
The sauce was delicious! You could eat it with a spoon, and it complemented the warm fresh pita bread so well (this is where the 2 stars come in). The red cabbage slaw which I was really looking forward to was a dismal mass of wilted, slimy, goo with dead carrots and sauce. BLECH!! The crunchy, fat oriental noodles they were seated on were also quite good -esp. in the sauce!
The waitress was a doll, and made our dining pleasurable, however I do not think I will be returning to a TGI Friday's anytime soon. -

Aurora, ILWhat can I say... Starting from the waiter who grabbed our menus on the way to equally bad burger and fries.. Tgif is going downhill so fast that it doesn't realise it so... -

Manhattan, NYIf you want m****f***ing dry ass baby back ribs, go to this place. Its truly amazing that this place still stays open after all these years. I went there 4 years ago for baby back... dry. Went there again after 4 years, burned and dry. Am I looking forward to having a baby back there again in 2017? F NO!!! -

Mendham, NJLike any other TGI Friday, amigo. Good food, good time, full bar, the family friendly etc etc. They have this great new juxbox in the back that plays at the bar and can play almost any song you can think of...for a dollar. Your song won't come next until the other songs played for have been played. Costs two dollars to play it next. Good place to eat if you're around. -

I'm going to admit something kind of embarassing - I live in NYC but sometimes I just want to eat at a Food Court. Or go to Rainforest Cafe. I grew up in the 'burbs so this may have something to do with it.
When I get this feeling in NY, I can go to:
a) Johnny Rockets
b) Outback
c) TGIF
I once went here with a friend for Valentine's Day as a joke - like, "Could we have picked a less romantic restaurant?" The answer? No. We could not. Everytime I come here I'm shocked by the audacity of the menu and corporate hedgehogs - how could they charge $17-20 bucks for entrees? Rudeness Giuliani.
Also, the people who dine here crack me up. If you've seen the episode of Sex and the City about secret sex, this is it. It's where people go for dates who don't want to be seen with their dates.
If nothing else, this is crappy walk down memory lane for my tastebuds and a way to throw money in the garbage. Still entertaining nonetheless -

I came here one Saturday hoping to find a good dinner. Someone suggested we go to this particular Friday's. While I initially enjoyed the atmosphere, the wait time for food was just way too long and I mean I waited a Long time. I remembered the wait time must've been like 30 minutes or longer. First of all, they had only two waiters that day. It was a busy Saturday too. I can see them hustling and bustling but it took forever for the guy to take my order and took even longer for him to bring the food out. It almost felt like the waiter was also the chef. ^^;;
Aside from the wait time, the food was okay. It's pricey and you don't get much to eat. I only ordered a salad. The person who came here with me at the time had BBQ ribs felt the same way too. The drinks are just very overpriced. I thought it was a bit nuts.
It was a new experience for me. If someone wants to go TGI Friday's, I would not turn it down but I might try a different location. -
