Generally very good reviews for this place but not everyone is all that enthusiastic...

Another place where people like the Quinoa cakes

Yum. Who doesn't love a good cauliflower dish? Crispy and covered in cheese - so good! I went to Comodo twice in a week for dinner and went back fora third time recently for brunch. I took my mom, friends and back with my mom - we LOVED the lamb sliders. Also, the brussels sprout salad and quinoa dishes are a nice healthy way to go.

For brunch, you must try the quinoa cakes topped with a poached egg. Delish!! Such a unique dish and I feel like it just might be healthy.

I tried to go back today for brunch but there is a weird sign out front saying the staff needed to rest...odd. Can't they rest on Monday?

Heard the backstory about the writer-turned-chef, and decided to check it out.

Really pretty space. The bar is small, and kind of odd, but I liked it very much and it suits the space. Good wine selection and small plates options. Nice open kitchen, friendly staff. Cozy, intimate and low-key elegance. Will definitely return to try more of the food.

Great little Pan South American cafe.

Limited menu for brunch but everything is delicious and fresh.  I will definitely return very soon.

Wow!!! The best bloody mary I've ever tasted. Great sangria and waitstaff too.
8 friends and I trickled in at varying times for our 12pm reservation and no one rushed us to start ordering or leave. Our meals were all great except for the questionable pork belly pasta (the presentation wasn't appealing). The chocolate they served to finish the meal was delectable. I will definitely be back for more shrimp tacos and great service.

Great brunch spot to change things up. My favorite dish was the Buttered Quinoa Poached Eggs. Wow! Trout Salad also amazing.
Comodo has great decor - brick and wood combo, and a great size to enjoy a sunday brunch. Not loud with dish clattering like most brunch places. Our waiter was funny and friendly. Recommended best chocolate cake with saffron sauce for dessert which he put a cake on since we were celebrating a friends birthday.
    Definitely must go.

I have been on a torta quest of late and kept reading about the versions offered here at lunch. They are quite a bit pricier than the norm but there is no question that the ingredients being used are higher quality. That said, I found the sandwiches being undermined by the softness of the bread which was like a pillowy brioche. While there are times that's an appealing choice it lacks texture in this case.

Excellent food and dinner experience. Very cute, low-key restaurant with friendly wait staff and everything we got hit the mark. Started with the lamb sliders and then split the poblano pepper pasta (my husband scraped every last bit off the plate) and the chipotle rubbed code. Only negative was that I didn't read the menu description so didn't realize the cod would be battered/fried...still delicous (of course!) but not exactly what I was in the mood for. Definately recommend.

Oh & note, they only serve beer and wine.

i went there for my birthday, booked a table for 4 a day before. The service is great, they are friendly. The food , some of if was good some of it so and so. Good: octopus, calamari, lamb mini hamburgers . Not so great: duck - was over cooked and gummy, pork was also kind of gummy.
overall it's a cosy place, that you can stop for drinks with friends but not expect something amazing from food.
    • Lamb mini burgers - good
    • Octopus - reaaaaaaaallyy goooood , loved it
    • Duck with mash potatoes - the duck was over cooked. So it w…

Food was not good. Had such high hopes too. The food was not inedible, but it was downright bad, especially for the prices. We had:

Steak - tasty but about 1/3 fat
    Pork shoulder - pretty decent
    Caesar Brussel sprouts - terrible
Cauliflower gratin - ok but watery. Nothing special. Just cauliflower and cheese
Side vegetables had no seasoning or taste.
Lamb sliders - very odd taste. Compared to little owl these pale in comparison.

Wow, my girlfriend and I finally got to try this quaint little village restaurant.  We were up from DC for the weekend and we happened to get a seat on a Saturday.  Full disclosure - my cousin was working there as a post graduate gig from her cooking school, working alongside the head chef.

We walk in and were very warmly greeted.  The hostess - super friendly and eager to get us started.  Awesome start.  After getting the run down of the menu, we decided to go with the octopus starter and we ordered the Pichanha steak and braised pork (more pulled style).  The octopus was flash friend and served in his citrusy sauce and it was delicious.  Cooked perfectly and the octopus was nice and meaty.  What a great start.  The steak - wow.  My girlfriend and I both remarked that we thought it was the best steak we've ever had in our lives.  They source their meats from local butchers and I believe all of the meats they get our non-antibiotic, completely grass fed, etc. cuts of beef.  Fantastic.  It was served with some greens and some south America farofa.  All very yummy complements.  My pork was so moist and flavorful.  It was served alongside some delicious mashed potatoes, greens and mushrooms.  The mashed potatoes were unbelievable and the pork was nothing short of deliciousness.

For desert, we had a real yummy chocolate cake and a bread cake.  Both very good.  We were fortunate to meet Felipe - the head chef and owner.  A truly gracious host, fantastic cook and all around nice guy.  If you're looking for a nice, intimate, romatic place to eat (with a neighborhood feel, to boot)- this is your place!

Five friends and I came to Comodo on a rainy Saturday morning for brunch. We had a great time, the food was AMAZING, and the service, while inconsistent, was still good because our servers were clearly apologetic about that and told us early on that they were short-staffed and would do their best for us. They gave us small cups of hot chocolate for free at the end of our meal--I'm not sure if that's standard, or if it was a way to say "thanks for being patient with us," but it was an extremely nice gesture and we made sure to tip them generously anyway.

My party and Comodo got off on the right foot immediately because we originally had a reservation for 4, but had to expand that to 6 the morning of our brunch. Comodo was accommodating, and seated the three of us that arrived early without any fuss (it was a very rainy day). We started off with mimosas and ordered two pitchers in total. The mimosas were not very alcoholic and tasted great!

I ordered the "Quinoa Meal," which is like oatmeal but with quinoa, and it tasted AMAZING. It was really, really good. I'm intent on trying to make the same thing at home at some point in the future! The quinoa was soft and chewy, and the dish wasn't too runny or too sweet.

As our main dish, I had the Comodo Benedict, which was very good but more generic and less memorable than the Quinoa Meal.

Overall, my friends and I had a great experience here. The staff were super friendly, despite being short-staffed, and did their best for us. They also didn't complain about us staying for a long time. The meal was expensive ($43 a person) but that's because we ordered alcohol.

I would definitely come again. Keep up the good work, Comodo!

DELICIOUS food.  Every entree my friends and I ordered was silky and scrumptious (scallops, chicken, cod, trout).  The ceviche appetizer is also milky, creamy, delectable.  One thing that could use some work is the service: the hostess tried to be accommodating when our party changed from 2 to 4, but she was overly communicative about changing the arrangement, coming over to us every few minutes - and she seemed quite stressed.  Also, as dinner went along and the restaurant became full, waiter service was sporadic/choppy at times, mixed with over-bearing when she did come to our table. My advice: calm down, listen to the patron, and be sure to visit/glance over every so often. Overall, though, nice servers who try and delicious food make this place worth a visit (or more).
