"A Face in the Crowd"-- the Daily Beast

Alex Prager Photographs a ‘Face in the Crowd’

The goal of the photographer here was to take a shot that makes us aware of all the different individual stories and lives that are tossed together in a crowd...all these private conditions and dramas that get lost in just the sense of being in a "crowd."

SOME crowds, such as the one at Times Square on New Year's Eve, encourage people to forget their individual stories and join in a collective celebration. But I think that's the exception...

(Oh yes, I have also noticed that some PLACES, such as the Grand Hall of Grand Central Station, have a certain kind of magical effect on people...like being around the Trevi Fountain in Rome does or being at the base of the Eifel Tower or the base of the Empire State Building. It becomes a "scene" which one finds oneself part of).
